Someone tell me where the hell Burgs is. I'm going with whoever he says to go with. The guy is usually spot on about all prospects.

I don't think Morrow was injured and Bob had him ranked at 20 and we picked him at 23 so not really a fall.
Morrow was battling a lower-body injury throughout much of the season. He didn't miss much time, but he wasn't fully healthy for a lot of the season. Once he was, at the start of the playoffs, he tore it up and his stock rose dramatically. Despres indeed played through an injury an the U18s, at he didn't look good doing so. Luckily, the Pens brass didn't put too much stock into one small sample size.

I definitely remember the chatter on Morrow picking up towards the end of the season, He went from like late 1st/early 2nd to solidifying himself as a 1st rounder.

Shoot, I'm going away on a fishing trip that weekend, going to miss the draft. I used to follow the undrafted prospects a lot, now I know virtually nothing about them.

Call me crazy, but I think we should consider drafting a goalie high in this draft, maybe even in round 1 with Malcolm Subban.

If things go sour with Flower and he becomes an odd man out, who the hell would take over? Does anyone here seriously trust Thiessen? Killien? I sure don't.

I'd rather go with Dansk or Vasilevski. Bigger bodies, Vasilevski got great lateral speed, Dansk has got that killer attitude.

I'm not a fan of drafting a goalie in the first round. I'd consider it in the second round (Dansk) because I believe he's the best goalie and after the early second there is a huge talent drop off.

I wouldn't mind seeing Houser in the mid-late rounds either. He would most likely be ready for WBS as a back-up. His style is unorthodox but he would probably be worth the flyer.

Pens have drafted a goalie in the 1st round 4 times in franchise history. Only one of them has panned out (Fleury). I don't like our odds.

I'd like to see them trade up in the second to get a goalie if the guy they like is still there.

Hell, I wouldn't even consider Fleury "panning out" in a sense. Sure, he was #1 overall, but he's never played anything like it.

Maybe in terms of "big game" play, but even then, what's he done since we won the Cup? Fleury's expectations and his results have not been anywhere near what they should be.

Don't get me wrong, Fleury is very good, (and I'm a huge supporter) but when he was talked up in the draft in 03, and being picked #1 overall, I expected someone who would be a can't-miss kind of goalie, and he's been no where near that.

I wouldn't draft a goalie with our 1st, there are some good players available. With our 2nd or 3rd I wouldn't mind taking a shot. Vasilevski, Dansk, Murray, Whitney and Gillies. We should be alright with a later round pick. Houser as well I forgot who isn't drafted and after his play with London will most probably finally get drafted

If we are going to draft a goalie I hope that we get the opportunity to draft Johan Gustafsson, considering the how bad the contract negotiations are going with Minnesota it seems like it is a good chance of that happening.

I know he's a good goalie, but seriously?

Height 5.06 -- Weight 143 -- Shoots L

I just like bigger goalies better, because there's just a select few midgets who ever had a great career as an NHL goalie.

As great as HockeyDB is they're out of their element with European prospects, especially goalies. I'm sure Gustafsson was 5'6", 143 when he was like 16...but he's not anymore.

That ain't the stance of a 5'6" goalie. I should know, 'cause I was a 5'7" goalie

edit: Also this is hilarious...

Drafting a goalie in the 1st is not needed, if anything, that's telling Fleury he is on his way out, and that can't be farther from the truth. Even if a goalie is the BPA I wouldn't draft a goalie in the 1st when you have Fleury back stopping the Pens.

Congrats Cole, on the purple.

BPA other than a goalie. Pens need a decent backup via free agency.

Thanks EoO, for putting this up. I see we essentially have two 3rds with CBJ's 4th. Nice.

I like where we're picking

Also, if Galchenyuk is available at #14, we should trade up, imo. I think he'll still go top 5 though.

Kerdiles at 15? Dang....

As for the goalies, I have no problem taking a goalie in the first round but I do have a problem with the Pens doing it. They haven't shown that they can develope a goalie or even take care of a cup winning goalie. Is Meloche even a full time coach?

I would want the Pens to take MAF at #1 all over again. IMO he's one of the most skilled players in the league. Right up there with Sid, Malkin, AO whoever...

The Pens think bringing along a goalie is like flying a kite. You just get it in the air and leave it there. Head over to a Devils practice in West Orange to see how one of the best goalies ever gets taken care of.
