How about Stuart Percy + Scrivens + 2nd in 2012 for 3rd overall instead?

I think Toronto needs an unproven 5th overall prospect more than they need two unproven 2nd and 4th round prospects

I am a Habs fan, and that is serious underpayment.

Maybe if we changed it to

Beaulieu/Tinordi
Kristo
Mtl 2012 2nd
NSH 2013 2nd

but even then, I doubt it. Burke realizes he needs this 5th overall pick after what he lost in the Kessel deal. Burke probably made that thinking it would have been mid round picks, I guarantee he never imagined that team crapping the bed so spectacularly. So I guarantee he'll be Gun shy on moving that pick for anything other than a proven NHL Star (example: Nash)

Oh please, let's not like Brian Burke never tried to trade high picks or did some worse trades.

Not even close. Would you trade the #3 pick for that package (assuming it was offered by another team)?

While true, he got a perrenial 30 goal scorer under 25 for them. So you know...

Yes, and if Montreal still had McDonagh, Toronto might consider this trade. Alas, they thought Gomez was a good idea.

In short, Montreal is in no position to blast other teams for stupid trades. Last couple years they have made a damn career out of it.

so win some lose some? he's hit and miss? he's 50/50?

meh. Every GM has some stinkers, Burke included. As a Habs fan, sadly, I am all too aware of that. But, as much as I hate to admit it, BB has been a very good GM over a long period of time and doesn't have as many "bad" trades as others.

Still doesn't change the fact that only Milbury would do the OP as is

Thoughts:

Change it to:
#5 pick, Mikus, Nicholls, 2013 2nd

for

#3 pick, Ellis, Kristo, 2012 2nd

Ellis is going to be a stud.

That said, no way the Leafs pull the trigger on that one.

Would you trade the 5th for what the OP offered up?

This should be an easy answer.

As a Habs fan I am embarrassed by this offer. Toronto deservedly laughs and hangs up the phone.
