Ouch.

Explains the downturn of his play, but doesn't help with the "Glassborik" reputation.

im thinking he probably injured his shoulder during the Sens series when he ended up going shoulder 1st into the boards.

guys pretty damn tough if he played all the time badly injured in the rest of the playoffs.

maybe now the haters will get off his back some, though i highly doubt it

this doesnt confirm he had surgery, but he was asked about it a few days ago

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...oulder-injury/

Quote:
In 2011-12, Marian Gaborik did something he’s never done before: Play a full 82 games. On top of that, he participated in all 20 of the Rangers’ playoff contests.

That’s quite the feat for a player that missed at least 20 games in three of his previous five campaigns. However, Gaborik might have accomplished that by playing through an injury in the playoffs.

Gaborik is believed to have hurt his shoulder early in the postseason and he didn’t do anything to dispel those rumors on Monday. When asked about the possibility of requiring a procedure or medical treatment over the summer, Gaborik offered a vague and open-ended response.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” he said. “I’ll know in a few days.”

Gaborik had 41 goals in the regular season, but he wasn’t nearly as effective in Eastern Conference finals. He had just one goal and no assists in the Rangers’ six-game series against the New Jersey Devils.

That explains why his wrist shot looked so lousy.

I guess we were fortunate that he played the entire regular season without missing a game, that's like a once in a lifetime occurrence for him.

Site looks legit. Although he isn't quoted as saying 5-6 months, whoever wrote the article just put it in there. I'm guessing that is the average recovery time for rotator cuff surgery?

It happened in the Ottawa series without a doubt on that fall into the boards. He played 2+ rounds with a torn rotator ciff.

Yeah that crash was pretty bad. He was in some serious pain after that play.

tough as nails.

but the haters will spin it somehow that he ended up hurting the team more by playing with basically 1 arm

Love the dedication to the team.

5-6 months is brutal though, and seriously hampers anyone's plans to get him out and bring Nash in

Get well soon Gabby!

I dont doubt he had a shoulder problem.

I do doubt that its a torn rotator cuff and he'll be out for 6 months - waiting for that to be confirmed by a source we can all actually read.

from sme.sk
quote from Gabby:
Quote:
"Magnetická rezonancia odhalila, že mám v ramene roztrhnuté puzdro a rotátor. Čaká má operácia, po ktorej budem mimo hry asi 5 až 6 mesiacov. Posledné dva mesiace som hral so zranením a nebolo to jednoduché. Lieky a injekcie mi síce bolesť utlmili, ale chýbala mi väčšia sila. Verím, že rekonvalescencia a rehabilitácia pôjde tak, ako má. Neviem, či stihnem začiatok ďalšieho ročníka, všetko bude závisieť aj od toho, či bude alebo nebude lockout," povedal na tlačovej besede v Trenčíne Marián Gáborík.

I fail to see how this exonerates Gaborik. It just proves my point that he is too soft and injury prone to be a leading scorer in a championship team.

2010 injured Olympics sucked down stretch

2011 injured all season

2012 injured playoffs

This guy is Phil Kessel and like Boston we need to move him.

No one can make fun of his heart/character: playing 2+ rounds with a torn rotator cuff is ballsy.
