Certainly explains why he wasn't shooting the puck worth a **** in the playoffs

5 months would mean missing the first month of the season, but he won't get any training camp time. maybe he can at least do the skating drills in camp, shouldn't affect his ability to work on his conditioning

I feel like a {MOD EDIT} for criticizing him now. Wow, and let me tell you when that **** is torn you can't even comb your hair, no idea how he was even playing hockey.

2010 injured Olympics sucked down stretch

2011 injured all season

2012 injured playoffs

This guy is Phil Kessel and like Boston we need to move him.
Say what?

Seriously? It doesn't exonerate him? He played a full 2 series with a VERY serious shoulder injury that would keep most of us from working, let alone doing any physical activity. Please....

He said that he played the last two months of the season with a torn shoulder capsule and rotator and that he took pain medication and injections to dampen the pain, but he was lacking strength.
http://www.snyrangersblog.com/2012/0...-rotator-cuff/

So it happened earlier than the playoffs...

Playing with an injury like that is considered soft? Only on HFBoards.

Oh come on, stop being so biased. He played with a god damn torn rotator cuff, clearly because he did not want to let his team down. How can you possibly spin this into an opportunity to bash Gaborik?

Well there is merit to the idea that he gets injured at bad times...though it always seems like his injuries are flukes. First year he got cut by Hanks skate and then gave himself a groin injury trying to come back from it too early, now he gets a shoulder injury near the end of the season, etc

But freaking out and putting it all on him doesn't make sense. He can't really control that kind of stuff. It makes more sense to find a way to increase the teams depth so it can handle things like this when they come up

So now he does not suck any more ( which he kind of did in the POs I must readily admit - but for good reason) - he needs to be bought out cuz he is the glass man. Hahaha

Kind of explains his shooting accuracy problems in the POs too...

I don't think anyone would disagree with anything you said if you just remove the word soft. Doesn't make alot of sense to call a guy who just played about 15 games with a torn rotator cuff soft. He is every buit as much a "warrior" as Girardi or Cally if this is true.

That may not mean he is what we need or want in terms of a $7m top scorer, but all the crazies who were questioning his character can back off now.

he has two more years left. Doesn't make sense to buy him out, he's going to be more valuable to the team playing than taking up a bunch of cap space for the next 4 years

Not good news obviously....Injury will put him back to return in November.

Need to make a big move for a star scorer, ASAP.

Lol There is a huge difference between being injury prone and soft. Getting injured alot = injury prone, playing through injuries doesn't equal soft.

First of all, I don't think this had anything to do with his poor play. I was primarily a baseball player and tore my rotator cuff throwing from my knees on a play in the hole at shortstop. I played three more games before going for surgery, and had about 7 or 8 hits in those 3 games. I couldn't really throw the ball anymore (DH'd those 3 games), but it didn't affect my hitting one bit. Never felt an ounce of pain swinging the bat, so this doesn't exonerate Gaborik to me. His biggest problem to me was lack of lateral speed and the inability to hold onto the puck when he got hit/leaned on.

Hear me out.

I have a new found respect for Gaborik. Playing with a torn rotator cuff like he did is admirable. It really is.

I do feel though that we need to trade him and get a good return for him. He has contributed greatly to the Rangers, but the injuries are just too much.

He sucked it up and played all 82 games and every playoff game, but now we will be without Gaborik until November/December.

The injuries just keep on stockpiling. In one way or another, his injuries will continue to hamper us. I appreciate Gaborik and respect him a lot, but in a business like this one, it's time for him to go. This has become a way of life with Gaborik and if we hang on to him, we will continue to suffer.

Like I said, I respect the man a ****load, and appreciate his efforts and contributions, but it's time for a change.

Being dead serious, if we won the cup this year, Gaborik wouldn't have not been able to lift it. Very bad injury to play through.
