Slovakia 2nd with only 4 NHL players.
Czechs 3rd with only 6 NHL players
Finland 4th with only 3 NHL players
Canada 8th or whatever with 24 NHL players.
USA 8th or whatever with 22 NHL players.
Yeah but u can't really make 3 National teams I don't think, I may be wrong. Point im getting at is there are a lot more Canadian and American players in the NHL that are good/great/star players then there are then those countries. I don't think any of those countries can produce at least 3 National teams, but they could all load up and say Russia have more talent and skill than any 3 US teams combined.
EDIT: To be fair you should be making your argument with the Olympics not the WC.

As a 40 year Rangers fan and a 2 year Zooks fan I find this latest tweet news to be very disappointing. I really think Zooks should try to hook on with another NHL team but I understand that he has to do what is best for him. Very cool of him to thank the fans and the organization.
Good luck to him, I really liked him and thinks he got shafted here this season, definitely deserved a shot of being on the roster all that time instead of wolski or christensen, or even some of those callups like newbury or deavaux. Its annoying, but im not going to cry over him leaving. I hope he gets another shot here though and not the KHL

He's a good kid and a very talented one too. We mistreated him here and he deserved more playing time and we could've definitely used him in the playoffs.
Having said that, this was expected and it certainly isn't a backbreaker.
Will Rangers still give him a QO to keep his rights for a few years?
Possibly, although it wouldnt serve any purpose. If they do give him a QO, i think they would retain his rights for the next 2 years (?), but he is signed for 2 years in the KHL.
Since the main reason for giving a QO is to "bar" other teams from signing the player, it would not serve any purpose at this point. Then again, they might just to have it on paper.
If i am to speculate, as i think the timing was a tad strange, i would imagine that he saw it as extremely likely that the Rangers would be giving him a QO that was also 2-way, and the likelihood of getting signed by someone else in the league was next to zero (due to the QO).
So he might have decided early that the KHL was his best bet for development and ice time. Just speculating *shrugs*
Not knocking the KHL, but it has been pretty well established as a league in-between the NHL and AHL. A league where Immonen, Marcel Hossa and Morozov are star players.
Zucc will likely do well and earn money, it is probably the best league in terms of style for his talents.
But yes, any league that allows a club like Vityaz for so long is going to draw ire.

This reinforces my prior belief that Slats will let Torts have almost 100% control over who he plays. I believe Slats wanted Zooks but Torts did not want Zooks. The only slight waiver I saw in that was early this season when we got off to a bad start and there was some noise that Torts should be fired. I believe Slats pushed Torts to recall a certain player (not Zooks) when we got off to that bad start.

Nonsense, it's all about money. That Russian club offered him a deal he couldn't resist, a deal he wouldn't get with the Rangers or anywhere else in the NHL. Also he doesn't mind KHL hockey, and the bigger rinks.
