Tim Erixon and Oscar Lindberg are cousins. (I didn't know this until I read it 2mins ago)

I like Lindberg alot. Obviously, the top end scoring talent isn't there, but I think he's got solid bottom six potential.

Actually the Rangers have one more SPC. Marek Hrivik. They have 32. Counting Miller's sliding contract.

They are 2nd cousins (tremänning in swedish). Hockeysverige.se wrongly claimed some hour ago that they are 1st cousins, but that is wrong.

Hopefully in a couple of years, two of our center prospects (Lindberg, Fogarty, Yogan, St. Croix or JAM) can replace Boyle and Anisimov on our bottom two lines. That would make it easier to re-sign Stepan, McDonagh and Hagelin. It would also allow us to make a 3-for-1 trade or replenish our farm.

If Miller plays in the AHL next year, but doesn't play 10 NHL games, his contract will slide. But he will still count against the 50 contract limit, won't he? He'll be getting paid under his ELC, it will just be extended 1 more year. If he remains in juniors, then obviously it won't count against the 50 limit.

Great signing. Heard him and Fast(h) gelled well in development camp a year ago.

A good third liner in a couple years, and apparently a great faceoff specialist. And god knows we need that.

Is it bad that the most I hope out of the kids is a solid 4th line C that wins draws and brings energy?

That's what I expect as well. He could be a third liner, but his most likely outcome is that of a good 4th line player.

Over the past three seasons, Lindberg has actually LOST two more face-offs than he has won. He's been pretty much exactly 50% each season. How exactly is he a "great" face-off guy?

He is playing against seasoned veterans in the SEL. 50% is actually quite good for a kid who is still building strength and learning the trade. Against kids his own age he owns the circle. Hoping as he develops he can get up to 55~60%.

He was embarrassing kids his own age in the dot, something like 65 or 70% or something ridiculous I think? A 20 year old who's averaging 50~% on faceoffs against adults bodes well.

edit- NYRB beat me to it.

I just wanted to revisit this and hear your thoughts as he's currently having a great offensive year in the SEL... one of a few players at/above a point per game pace.

Everything I've dug up on Lindberg is that he's a great faceoff man, responsible defensively and has a decent offensive upside (which he seems to be achieving).
Where do you see him fit into the Ranger's lineup? How long will it take? or does his style not translate well into the NHL game?

I haven't been able to see him play since the WJC so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the prospect thread, lot of Lindbergh chatter in there. Suffice it to say that he I'd opening some eyes with his play this season.

We traded Erixon in a package for Nash.

This was on old thread brought back to life, so the quote you have from vipernsx was written before the trade for Nash.

Lindberg is a player I like a lot. He's not going to be a big time scorer. But it's not far fetched to project him as a solid third line center who pops in some points, wins faceoffs and is solid in his own end. If he can play in the Craig MacTavish mold, I'll be a very happy camper.

The Rangers project him in a third line role.

Think a shorter, more defensive Patrik Berglund C with a better FO% but a slightly lower offensive potential. That is a good eventual return for a midround 2nd round pick with crazy ethic/attitude issues that is to 99% certainty going to bust (Ethan Werek). We need a gem or two to pop up and develop into NHL regulars the next 3 years - especially likely considering the new CBA and its probable restrictions.
Lindberg, Fast, Miller, MacIllraith and Skjei could be those players. Eventually add St Croix, Nieves, Andersson and Jean to the quintet. Anything more than them is a big surprise and a welcome bonus imo.
