You are missing the fan base that understands that family first in the most important thing in life.
You are missing the other fan base that whines about 'what about me., what about my GAME?". Proving once and for all they are ****** bags and hopefully will never reproduce themselves.
Not a family issue....aside from not wanting to live in Boston.
This is all about TT realizing that the Bruins planned to deal him right after his NTC kicks in. Its been in the works for a year. They arent going to extend, so why sit Rask another year? Why sign AK to a one way deal for this year? This is TT's way to pick his landing spot. Nothing more. I dont blame either side, but TT just called checkmate on PC if the plan is to move him. Either way he wont be back in Boston next year. That ship has sailed unfortunately.
This might not mean much for those involved, be it Bruins fans or Thomas himself, but his slim outside shot at getting into the HOF pretty much vanishes after this move.
Just like it was all David Krejci's fault we lost this year.
Memo to you sir...we did not "run him off". He has made a choice. I'm will to bet when Tuukka goes 2.15, .930 35+ wins you'll be happy.
Krejci going down didn't help their case but the Bruins were still scoring, I think Lucic himself had two goals in game 7. All Tuukka had to do was steal one of those four games but instead he let in soft goal after soft goal and then it was over.
Maybe this choice was his and if it was I think I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, I think he's earned it.
If Tuukka posts those numbers and comes through in the playoffs I will happily eat my words and I'll be routing for him, I just don't want to throw away the proven commodity for someone who hasn't won the number 1 spot. In a perfect world they could stay a tandem but 9 million on goaltending is crazy.

I don't understand this. At all.
Quote:
Chiarelli compared Thomas' decision to similar situations teams have gone through with star players like Scott Niedermayer, Teemu Selanne, Nicklas Lidstrom and Dominik Hasek after long playoff runs in the past. Hasek skipped the 2002-03 season and Niedermayer sat out half a season after Anaheim won the Cup in 2007.

If there are serious family issues I am sure everyone understands, sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do.
However, there is probably a good portion of the fan base that just ain't buying it.

Pretty much been confirmed that it is.

I disagree, I think it has a lot to do with his wife and kids picking up and moving to Colorado mid-season. Why would they move mid-season, 2000 miles away? Doesn't add up to TT trying to pick his landing spot. IMO.

Do the Bruins win the cup without Seidenberg last season?
Many people forget that the Bruins lost Seidenberg prior to the 2010 playoffs.
With Seidenberg in the line-up the Bruins don't lose 4 straight to the Flyers.
not even gone and I miss the guy. I think all you tuukka timers are gonna be singing a different toon here next year. then que the "bring back thomas" threads... good luck timmy, always backed ya. Hope you change your mind, i'd like to see another cup.
Family > Hockey 100 times out of 100. If this is why he is leaving, I wish him all the best.
Even if it isn't, I still wish him well for all the great memories. And if he comes back with another team, whether it be via trade this year or thru free agency next year I hope he is successful.
Walking away from millions to be with/support family is very admirable.
I'm not too surprised to hear TT is fatigued or worn out. Had seats at the glass for a game in Buffalo, Rask was in and TT on the bench. I said to the guy 'If someone was to tell you that guy across the ice won the Vezina and Conn Smythe last year, and you didn't know it, you wouldn't believe it.' Thomas looked tired and disinterested, and just then had a mighty big yawn. The timing was somewhat comical.
Goalies are a different breed, and the better they are, the less one understands them. Hasek himself was a crazy one, Brodeur has his quirks too, ha!
Shame to see things end this way, but I am ever so thankful for TT and what he has brought to the team and the fans over the past years. No way the Cup would have been won without him last year. And my best wishes to him and his family that what they are going through right now works out in the end.
Well until someone can provide me publically or privately some sort of comprehensive story I'm going to roll with what I know and what the man says.
If fans can't stomach putting family above a game I say **** 'em.
This x1000. I think Timmy has done enough for this club to at least have some benefit of the doubt when it comes to taking care of family matters before anything else.
Not surprised so much as I'm disappointed. I gave Haggs the benefit of the doubt for the most part during this whole thing, as I believed that he was doing his job, whether or not I agreed with how he went about it.
But this is crap. It's unnecessary and unprofessional. I'm willing to bet he is not privy to any inside information or the "real story" here (if there is one), so for all he knows he's making a crack about a guy who is dealing with a seriously ill family member.
