Bolland to Edmonton

Hey all, I read an ESPN article (fwiw) that talked about Bolland possibly being redundant in Chicago and that they need some more scoring depth. Also an article in the Edmonton Journal about Bolland's defensive performance and grit that the Oilers should target.

Do you think there could be a deal to be had here?

Not going to get moved: Hall, RNH, Eberle, 1st overall, Petry, Smid.

Everything else could be included in some way.

Maybe something around Pajaarvi or Gagner (with Belanger included for some FO proficiency and defensive play)?

Trading Bolland leaves us with Toews as the only legit C. So Bolland isn't being traded unless it is for a upgrade which Gagner isn't.

Bolland won't be moved. If you want Kruger, I'm sure a deal could be struck...

Yeah, I can't see Bolland being moved for anything less than an upgrade at centre.

The oilers have nothing aside from those players that could land Bolland.

Dubnyk and Jones +...maybe.

dream on! we already have a smallish forward that scores 40 points per season in Gagner....WHY would we even want Bolland, let alone overpay for him?

Not the point. The point is for Dave Bolland, we wouldn't want Dubnyk and Jones coming back. Dubnyk is better than Crawford, in all likelihood, but when you consider that Dave Bolland is being traded for him... it makes it a lot less attractive.

I can't see Bolland being traded unless it's for a better Center. Not sure Sam Gagner is that guy. I don't want to enter the year with Toews as the only good Center on the team.

He's one of the best third line centers in the NHL. I dunno if EDM is a good fit though since they are stuck with Horcoff and being a third line center is all he's good for at this point.

Horc is good defensively, one of our best faceoff guys, and scored close to the same amount of goals and points as Bolland did. Bolland is not a big guy and the Oilers, aside from guys like RNH, Eberle and probably Yakupov, have moved towards trying to get bigger up front. sorry, but Bolland isn't an upgrade on Gagner or Horcoff either, so the Oilers have no reason to pursue him.

Bolland and Gagner play completely different styles.

much better defensive game, plays is all situations and is a pest to play against.

I've been advocating it for a couple years now... but I think Bolland can be a 2nd line center. He has just never gotten a fair shake at it because he's "so good defensively" that apparently he's not able to carry his defensive play to a scoring role either...

much better defensive game? how often have you seen him play? Gagner was +5 this year on a 29th place team. Gagner also can play in all situations and can move up to #1 center when needed. there really isn't an upgrade here for the Oilers.

We don't have anyone at center, and while part of me could see Bolland being moved, it would only be as part of package for a legit 2C (read: NOT Gagner).

Hawks need to get tougher and grittier. Swapping Bolland for Gagner is the opposite of that.

the Oilers need to get bigger, tougher and grittier, acquiring Bolland is the opposite of that.

are you trying to be clever or something?

I don't know what Edmonton wants all I know it that the Hawks don't want to trade Bolland because he brings tons of grit and is tough to play against...therefore a swap of Gagner for Bolland doesn't make sense for the Hawks.
