May not be first overall, but wow that first youtube video was downright impressive.

He looks talented in those youtube videos, but he's not going anywhere near 1st overall (needs to really explode in point totals this year to go top ten? not sure where he is projected to go). Wouldn't mind my team drafting him though, looks like a Tomas Jurco type of player; at least judging by those clips. Regardless, can't really go wrong with a big, skilled guy who can skate.

Thankfully, players aren't drafted on highlights.

This year. But imo he's so overrated on these boards. I saw him play a couple times last year against the 67's (one game he got a hattrick i believe) but he hasn't impressed me very much. There is way too much hype from the u18's and I don't think just one good tournament can put him in the top 10. If he performs well this season then I believe he could be, but right now he's pretty overrated and hasn't earned a top 10 spot considering some of the skilled defenders like Reinhart, Pouliot, and Ebert are now looking from the outside in.

he attended the same high school as me, one year younger....has good speed and decent size but has to work on his vision. Won't be number one in the draft.

I would've considered him underrated last season, but he's gotten soooooooo much hype lately.

I was going to try to find the other thread of him the other day, but this one popped up.

Double A has improved vastly over last year. His speed has led to multiple breakaways every game that I've seen thus far this year. It seems like his hockey sense and defensive play have gotten much better. The Ivan Hlinka seemed to have had an extremely positive effect on him.

Sorry if you think that my praise is a bit over the top, but I think that he is a top notch talent.

That being said, he won't be first overall. I'm thinking 11-15 right now.

Looked a bit like a smaller Gabriel Landeskog in his style of play. Mind you, only seen the small samples showed in this thread.

And his name is definitely Greek.

Sounds like he finally snapped out of it over the weekend, scoring 4 goals in a game on Saturday (I believe it was Saturday).

Pretty sure it's Greek-Cypriot buy hey, who cares. Unless this turns out to be another Tavares-ethnicity thread, in which case I would be ecstatic

Andreas went to my highschool I can confirm he's half Greek and pretty sure half Guyanese on his mother's side.

Andreas Athanasiou

This kid has had quite the rollar coaster year. The kid started out as a consensus top 10 pick at the beginning of the season and after a bad start started dropping fast. He ended the year with 22 goals, which is pretty good considering how much depth London had this year (56th rank Josh Anderson was scratched for the memorial cup final because they had no room for him). I watched him in the memorial cup and looked pre good, especially in the final game when he generated chances using his speed. It might take him a bit longer to reach the show but considering he is one of the best skaters in the draft and great hands too, I think someone should take a shot on him in the 1st round.

You'd regret taking him in the 1st round. He's got elite speed and great hands, but he doesn't really have a great mind for the game, IMO. He's not untalented, he just seems like a guy with a bunch of tools but no toolbox. He either doesn't utilize his teammates like he should or doesn't recognize when/how to use them.. personally, I think it's the latter and that's why he'll fall to the late 2nd/3rd round.
