Its much easier with an open check book. When you spend twice as much more than everyone else you better win more than you lose.

No, the Mets are just pathetic. They used to spend a boat-load of cash too (not even that long ago), but still managed to suck.

Saw the last inning of the no-hitter at the Ducks game last night, watched it on their little TV they had in the radio booth. I'm a Yankee fan but also a fan of baseball history, and I loved seeing Santana do it last night. I'm happy for him and the Mets to finally have one.

I know the payroll thing stings..Deal with it...When you spend 200m every year you should win every year.

Good to see you know how many championships the Yankees have.

Must make you feel good to pick on the Mets after Santana throws a great game and our first no hitter in our 51st year. Keep talking about the past, the Mets are a gritty team playing good ball and playing hard. Keep whining.

And we have 27 btw, not 26. It's not my style to just drop that number, but if you're gonna do it at least get the right number.

The Mets are doing well right now and that is without spending a damn thing the last two offseasons so even yankee fans should give the mets credit for their start so far

I'm not picking on the Mets kiddo. It's a great accomplishment for a team that has very little success in it's history. I wouldn't call that whining, just stating facts.

It's not even a competition right now for the time being. The Mets are trying to get back to respectability and the Yankees Division isn't the cakewalk it was.

-The Yankees are a global brand

-The Mets are closer to the A's or Royals in terms of available finances for the next few years.

If the Mets can sustain what they're doing and add to their young core, and if the Yankees can fix their pitching, then this thing will heat up again.

The Mets have done a fantastic job and exceeded all expectations and it's especially good in a time when they added an extra playoff team. Who knows, stranger things have happened.

I could see both teams being in the hunt this year. The Mets in my opinion are far better than they were last year especially with Wright rebounding and Santana clicking. The Yankees haven't lit the world on fire but they're notorious slow starters and are still only 2 back.

And my good buddy Curtis is on pace for 54 homers, I love it

The mets are exciting to watch because it mostly homegrown talent who always comes up and helps produce. Even a blowhard yankee fan like francesa has enjoyed them which is very rare coming from him

With all due respect, can you really blame them though? I mean, the ball was ridiculously fair and clearly missed. I honestly feel a little bad for the Mets in this because all the poo poo'ers will constantly bring that up until they repeat the accomplishment without controversy.

If we go that route, we might as well put an asterisk next to every NHL game this year The officiating in every sport is questionable.

Yes but then every perfect game/no hitter should be asterisked. How many questionable strikes do you think get called/missed?

Every umpire is different.
