Lepisto is a free agent. Feel free to grab him for free. Nobody else will want him.

Hawks need a 2nd line center. If they make this trade they need a 3rd line center as well. They have plenty of Wings on the roster and through the system. No need to make the Center depth even worse just to get another suitable 2nd line winger.

Chicago cannot trade Bolland without having or receiving an upgrade in centre ice.

I would be all over this as a leafs fan. Love Bollands mean streak. We have plenty of players who can step in and fill Mac C's role.

Absolutely not from Chicago.

As already mentioned, we're not trading Bolland for anything short of an upgrade. Ideally we're looking for a center upgrade (2nd line center) but MacArthur doesn't even upgrade our wingers let alone centers. Lepisto's a UFA on July 1st and you can have him then. This does nothing to make us better. It only benefits the Leafs.

Change the 3rd rounder to the 5th pick in the draft...and you can keep MacArthur.

this is bad for the Hawks

does nothing for the team
creats a hole WITHOUT filling another
value is not good enough to trade Bolland

2x Toronto - Dallas [posts #1 & 3]

To Toronto: Kari Lehtonen & Burish OR Raycroft OR Dowell OR 4th round pick 2012

To Dallas: Joffrey Lupul

Thoughts?

Which 1 do you think can work for both teams? If none of them then post a counter proposal that you think can work.

I don't think either variation of those deals for Lehtonen works for Dallas - they are giving up a quality starting goaltender, and they would not gamble on Bachmann or Campbell picking up where Kari left off, and that would be unrealistic to expect. Lupul's had a great season, but a lot of it seemed to be attributed to his chemistry with Kessel, which makes it a bit of an odd trade for the Leafs, as well, but I don't see the Stars interested, at all.

This is absolutely awful. Daley was probably our best defenseman this year.

And we want no part of Lombardi.

Lombardi's a cap dump/reclamation project, Daley's a solid player so the early 2nd rounder isn't enough to offset the value.

No to the first one. Why would we do that? That means Campbell or Bachman are Dallas's starter next year, no thanks. Lehtonen is a top 10 goalie on a good contract, he's not going for a player who may or not be able to replicate last years results.

Hell no to the second. Trade our best defensemen (A #2 defensemen) for a injury prone, waiver fooder player and a pick? No thanks.

I'll give you a 3rd for Lombardi+2nd simply because we have the space and seem to be good with reclamation projects. Nothing more.

There's a reason he's a part of LACK.

Razer was not my first option to get back, Burish or the pick would be but if Dallas were not interested in giving up Burish or the pick on top of Lehtonen I thought Razer could come in and battle Reimer for the backup position. On paper Reimer should win that battle but it could give us more depth and competition in net.

First off, Lehtonen isn't getting traded.

Second off, Burish and Raycroft are both UFAs, just sign them if you want them.

Lepisto is not the main part of the deal for people who keep crying about him being a UFA, Hawks are not going to resign him most likely anyways so I thought the Leafs could take him in the deal, and have a few weeks to try and see if we could work out a deal with him and if not it is no big deal.

It would be like any other UFA you have in your organization, we can try and sign him before he hits UFA so we don't have to overpay for him because other teams will be inquiring about his services (although not many).

I would only want him on the team if we got him as a throw in in a deal and tried to sign him for what he is worth if not for a bargain and if not we can just let him walk when free agency hits.

I wouldn't expect him to make the roster next fall, he would just give us some more depth when injuries hit and give some of the other D some more competition at camp since there would be 1 more guy they would have to beat out for a spot.

True about the UFA part, they are not the main parts of the deal, just throw ins, and then we would have a month or whatever to try and sign them like any other UFA in our organization before they hit free agency and then there is the chance other teams inquire about their services and then we would probably have to overpay for them if we tried to sign them this off season.

This way if we got say Burish in the deal, we could have a month as I said to try and sign him before as I said other teams inquire about his services come this off season because that is when you overpay for players, when they hit free agency. Just seems easier to throw him in the deal and have a chance to get him signed for what he is worth or for a bargain.

I'm trying, but I still can't figure out why Dallas even thinks about doing either one of these deals.

Seems like both deals help out the Leafs, but Dallas? Not so much.
