Brock Beukaboom

It was reported that Brock Beukeboom was not signed by the Blues come June 1st deadline.

I was wondering why he didn't get signed. Was it too many contracts for the Blues and they weren't able to sign him, or was it because he didn't show any signs of improvement over the past 3 years?

What I am wondering if they Oilers would use one of their 3rd round picks to draft Beukeboom in this years draft and give him a shot at developing in the system.

Or is he just redundant as we already have Smid, Teubert, and others as solid defensive dmen. But again, it wouldn't hurt to have more depth on the blueline.

I can only assume he was drafted where he was, because of his name.


If we are going to draft an unsigned 2010 draftee, I'd rather take a flyer on Rutkowski.

IMO if he's there at the 5th round or later, he's worth taking a gamble on.

I liked his game in Niagara. He played smart, did the little things right, had a mean streak at times, and had a decent shot

Troy Rutkowski may be better than Beukeboom, but I haven't read any scouting reports on either of them.

Do you have any reports on Rutkowski (other than HF material).

I wouldnt waste a pick/contract on Rutkowski.

I saw him in the WHL final.

He was pretty meh.

Especially for his age.

Brock had a devestating concussion that set him back. I'd get him as a UFA down the line but not use a pick on him.

I went to school with him , pretty nice guy

wouldnt mind if we drafted him late

I thought Rutkowski was pretty solid in the WHL finals. IATL is right that he probably could have been better for his age though.

I wouldn't mind a late round pick on Rutkowski or Beukaboom.
