Excellent draft. TT, Thrower, Gusev, Calnan, Nelson and Stepan is a real amazing contingent of prospects.

wow that is a nice draft haul. everyone of those is going to get picked much higher, especially Calnan after he destroyed the combine testing.

Pittsburgh selects with their last pick from the Kingston Frontenacs LW Billy Jenkins

Billy is a shifty skater with excellant play making abilities. He had 25 pts in 31 games after his trade to Kingston.

Next GM notified.

Pittsburgh Picks
27-Brady Skjei-6'3 D
58-Vyacheslav Osnovin 6' C
88-Artur Gavrus 5"11 C
92-Michael Houser 6'2 G
118-Alex Gudbranson 6'2 D
148-Tyrel Seaman 6'2 C
178-Doyle Somerby 6'5 D
208-Billy Jenkins 5'10 LW

Very happy with our picks and thanks for everyone that participated. This is the best mock draft here on HFBoards.

Yep, let's agree to applaud you for that draft. Calnan is rising by the second. I'm a BIG Thrower fan, Laughton at 49 is a steal, while the last 4 picks have also potential to be steals. One of the best...congrats!

10. Griffin Reinhart - Liked the pick when I made it and I like it even more now. Reinhart's stock rose quite a bit after his playoffs/Mem Cup run and both Button and McKenzie suggesting he could be a top-5 candidate.

23. Slater Koekkoek - Wasn't necessarily planning to take two defensemen with TBL's two first rounders but I couldn't pass on Koekkoek, I've liked him for a long time. Think he's good value at 23.

37. Daniil Zharkov - Maybe a little early at 37 but I wanted to get a clear top-six player in a draft where they aren't there in abundance and I like Zharkov a lot.

40. Tim Bozon - Some have him going just inside the first round so I like the value at 40.

47. Charles Hudon - Probably a lot earlier than his actual draft spot, but I had 4 picks and really didn't want to miss him. Another guy I've liked all year. With Zharkov, Bozon and Hudon I picked three LW'ers in a row which I wasn't keen on, but a lot of the centres I wanted were gone right before or around my pick.

56. Joonas Korpisalo - With 6 picks in the first two rounds I was sure I could get either Vasilevski or Dansk but I missed out on both. I liked a lot of goalies in the 2nd/3rd and I probably could have waited on Korpisalo (my other goalie option at this spot, Matt Murray, stayed on the board until the 5th round) but oh well, I like him.

71. Tanner Richard - I still had no centres pick so even though there might have been other BPA's out there I grabbed Richard. Not a pick I'm crazy about but he could turn into a solid player.

101. Niklas Tikkinen - I stayed off D's for a while and Tikkinen was the last one I grabbed. Between him, Reinhart and Koekkoek, I think that's a pretty nice upgrade to TBL's current D prospect pool.

131. Cedric Paquette - Went for another C and this one I like a lot, I think he could go a lot higher than where he fell to here.

161. Alexander Delnov - Buoyed mostly by a good showing at the U18's and a glowing write-up from RLR, I decided to go a bit off the board with my last pick (I didn't have a 7th rounder). That's what those rounds are for, in any case.
One of the best out there. Best pick of all....Cédric Paquette...

You have no idea how happy I'd be to see Galchenyuk, Nieves and Hart....wow, that would make my day....but sorry, not expecting it. The rest of the league won't make us do it....

With their last pick, the St. Louis Blues select Alexei Bereglazov.

Next GM PMed.

With the 210th overall pick in the draft, Toronto selects, from Nobles and Greenough Highschool, MASS, Tyler Wood.

So, for Nashville:

66th - Erik Karlsson
111th - Jimmy Vesey
117th - Jujhar Khaira
147th - Matthew Beattie
164th - Wade Murphy
177th - Reece Wilcox
180th - Dakota Mermis
207th - Emil Djuse

So, couple of notes:

- Not having a pick in the top 2 rounds was problematic. Missed out on so many people because of that and forced me to play it a bit safe with my first selection instead of going for the fences.

- Missing on Tringale - Argh. My main mistake, as far as I'm concerned.

- Yay for obscure leagues: Nobody played in the CHL, NCAA or any men's league in Europe. Well, Djuse did, but in Division 1 so I don't know. Hopefully that one turns out better than Felix Andersson

- Still no goalies, which continues my irrational fear of taking them in this mock draft. Maybe next year!

But overall I'm quite satisfied. I think I have a good, competitive and talented group and each player brings something different to the table. Still, a lot of development needs to be done here, so that could turn out awful very easily. Hoping for one player to make me look like a genius.

Big fan of the Khaira pick, Vesey as well. Dakota Mermis is a solid defender where you got him.

Very nice draft. I too would be very happy if the Habs' draft turned out like that.

Oh and I might be in total minority, but at this point, like I said on the draft thread, I take Zharkov ahead of Gaunce. At 37, that's good. He's probably not a 1st rounder though could be a late one. Or beginning of a 2nd.

Thanks habsprospect for making my pick. i had to double check the list because i was surprised to see Dotchin not pick yet. he's actually rank as a 1st round prospect by Hockeyprospect (30th overall) i know CSS had him lower but still surprised to see him there. Great size at 6"3 205 & good stay at home + strong physical tool.

Overall my draft is good, nothing spectacular but i like it. lots of guys who i think i have a chance to play in the big league in different role.

-1/25 Tom Wilson Rw Plymouth (OHL)
-3/80 Brett Kulak Def Vancouver (WHL)
-4/116 Christophe Lalancette Rw Acadie-Bathurst (QMJHL)
5/146 Etienne Marcoux G Blainville-Boisbriand (QMJHL)
7/206 Jake Dotchin Def Owen Sound (OHL)

With the 211th pick of the 2012 NHL entry draft, the Vancouver Canucks are proud to select, from the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League,...

Forward Alexander Gogolev.

Alex has a very good offensive package with his speed, release and overall skill level. He had a very good rookie season in the WHL after a good career in the MHL. We hope to see him make the jump to the pros as soon as next year and help him build on his game in North America.

Needless to say, I won this draft.

I just want to say excellent job again this year guys. Hope to have everyone back next year!

By the way, I made a thread on the mock draft forum just like last year. Hopefully we get some feedback from fans of other teams.

Excellent work GMs!

And a big thank you goes out to Habsfan18. It is a lot of work to put this together, to maintain it and to stay on top of it. Dont think for a second that is taken for granted! Magnificent work as always and I cant wait to be a part of it again next season!
