While on the subject of Devils, I wouldn't mind signing Gionta's brother to a contract. He'd be a solid addition to our bottom-6 and hopefully having his brother around when make Gionta want to lead by example even more.

Aren't the Habs short enough?

I think that's the key, more than anything else.

Yeah I couldn't care less about that.

Nashville and Pittsburgh were both shorter than us.

I prefer heart, skill, and effort over size.

We've suffered threw a decade of tiny, 8th place destined teams. Some size would be nice.

So, let me ask you. If we had suffered the same fate except with a big team, would you be advocating getting smaller right now?

Your yardstick is stuck in the past.

Time to upgrade your perspective.

8 mil on a 70 mil cap is like somwhere around 5,5 mil on a 50 mil cap.

The cap value sequence in asset management is what is beyond overrated.

You pose an easily dismissible hypothetical.

The Habs did get taller this year, so instead of being a dreaded 8th place team (like LA?), they were one of the worst 3 teams in the league.

Yeah getting intentionally shorter would make no sense, but neither does signing useless plugs because they are tall. Short players have a tendency to be better skaters on average (if only because it's how they make the NHL).

Why is it easily dismissible?

Calgary was one of the biggest teams this year. How'd that turn out for them?

Stop booing the U.S. national anthem would be a good start

Because no GM in the world would advocate deliberately putting together a shorter team. You know and I presume the poster I adressed knows that this would be absurd. Your comment about Calgary is null and void. The Flames didn't miss the playoffs because they were too big. You know that, so why did you throw in that red herring.

But yet, people have no problem throwing in a red herring of the opposite.

So it's throwing in a red herring to suggest that the Habs should add more brawn? Do you think the Habs would be better if they acquired Brian Gionta's brother? There are lots of players who would be more productive than a diminutive fourth liner. Think bigger. [Pun intended]

Parise has been pretty much invisible this series, along with Kovy. Only their 4th line had anything going. Henrique I would take though.

The Kings have taken away every top player they have faced so far. Sedin, Blues best, Whitney and Vrbata and now Kovy and Parise.

Zach has shown up in every game so far in these playoffs, not to blame for this

It's painfully obvious that the Devils would kill to have Gomez back. Him for Parise's rights... that should do it.

The fun thing is that we are probably one of the only team that could afford the raise he is going to command if we get rid of gomez.

Parise won't come here but i'm sure Bergevin will take a crack at him i wouldn't mind 7 cap hit for 7 years.

Stephen Gionta is having a great playoff series, but he's not good enough for the NHL, he's a good AHL player. Don't let the small sample mislead you.
