Matt Kassian

Oilers fan coming in peace. I just wanted your guy's thought on Matt Kassian I saw he's a UFA this summer. IMO he's a very good fit for a bottom 6 guy on my team so I wanted to hear your guys thoughts on him.

DOES HE USE HIS SIZE?

CAN HE BE COUNTED ON TO NOT BLEED G/A?

CAN HE PLAY 3/4TH LINE MINUTES ON A REGULAR BASIS ?

Any info would be appreciated thanks.

if he's even flexing into the 3rd line your team has huuuuuuge problems. He's pure goon, man. Well, goon with a heart of gold. Yes he uses his size, but he's only there for one thing. Great guy--hilarious. I have to imagine he's popular in the locker room but...think MacIntyre. I think they are friends, even.

He hits people. Hard. With his fists, mostly. He's good at it. He's popular with fans and with teammates.

He was a -2 in 24GP, averaging 5:33 of ice time. On the other hand, the Wild's goal differential was a -49, so it's not like he was the big hole or anything.

Also, I would expect the Wild to have a decent chance to re-sign him. He is well-liked here, and seems to like playing here.

Put him on a line with Bulmer.

Just once.

He'll likely be re-signed. It's not like fighters are premium targets during free agency.

Who cares? The other line would be smashed to bits within moments.

I would actually want to see a Bulmer - Powe - Cluster**** line as our 4th line. Whenever someone gets suspended, replace him with Kassian.

Kassian's best role is a 13th forward... Scratched when he won't have a sparring partner... Dressed for more physical games.

I don't want him pushing 70 games played. Big fan... But he's part of a dying breed of pure fighters

if bulms makes it into the lineup with clutterbuck, it would be nice to have Kass back there instead of making Powe fight people.

I'm still hoping for a Kassian - Powe - Johnson 4th line. A good mix of up-tempo forechecking, some occasional offense, and of course, sticking up for teammates and bashing faces in.

Big fan of Kassian. Always have been. Yes, he should not be a top 6 forward, but I do think Kassian can play 50 games a year as a 4th liner. Yes, he is our enforcer, but he is not a total rock on skates, and he can skate well for an enforcer. Because of this, he can play more shifts per game than BOOGIE/ BJS, and so if there is a really chance of him playing 6-8 minutes a game, I think it can help keep some of our opponents from taking liberties with the skilled players.

having kassian really does help when you got chris neil's running around gunning for bouchard, plus he's probably one of the few players than can regularly win a fight. Plus score 2 goals in a game lol

but i guess we do have stoner, not the greatest fighter but hes decent. i wonder who would be the odd man out this up comming sesaon with brodin more than likely making the team (he just sounds like hes too good to send back to swe) then maybe kassian is the guy that plays more games.

well if our new guys add enough in the way or responsible hockey and scoring we can afford to dress Kassian most nights just in case.

Hopefully Kassian sees more time next year. There aren't many pure goons around the NHL anymore. Wouldn't be surprised to see Minnesota keep him around.

I wouldn't call Kassian a goon.

I'd prefer calling him a huge thug.

Call him what you will, we'd be more than happy with him in Detroit.
