"12. One last note about Washington: Even referees think John Carlson is going to win a Norris Trophy someday."

He'll use this as a bargaining chip for his next contract.

Alex Semin apparently loved playing with Pavel Datsyuk at the Worlds. Does that mean he takes the Detroit discount to play for the Red Wings? Trying to think if Semin/Babcock could be a match
Shocking to learn that 28 loves playing with a talented, Russian centerman.

What's with George's PR blitz. Maybe its common for GM's at the end of the season to make the rounds.

I am half tempted to call in to tell them the questions to ask. Fish has probably beat me to it.

Notes from George on 106.7
  • What is more Stressful: finding a coach or the Draft? Draft
  • Why wait after draft to name a coach: Players don't step right into the lineup.
  • How many interviewed? Wouldn't answer "Comprehensive"
  • Current Assistants: Doesn't work very often. 106.7 guy said he heard some players lobbied for Evason. Asst that becomes the coach can confuse players.
  • Dale Leaving / losing what he brought: we don't want to lose commitment to competitiveness.
  • Kuz: No effect on future drafts. Said he was top 4 or 5 best player in his class. Why did he slip if so good? Managers hesitate to draft Russians. Inconsistent before draft. Worth waiting for. Said he didn't want to come over soon anyways - wanted to get bigger.

Translated - Fired, allowed to resign/retire to save face. Finally some accountability from the NHL.

Tomorrow at 12(?) EDT. Or, that's when the league releases the schedule. Don't know when the Caps will release their detailed one.
