The problem is that I'm not sure he can take the tough-minutes that Plekanec usually gets at this stage of his career, and Montreal pretty much has to use Pleks as their tough-minutes guy because DD can't do it and Eller isn't there yet. The fit isn't quite as good as you'd think.
That said, he'd make a fantastic RW for DD and would free up Cole to help Pleks do the heavy lifting.

Jagr has to be a better option than Darche on top lines and first line PP right?
Ironically, the man who wanted to be part of the solution---Jaromir Jagr---took all of 27 seconds to work his magic on the Flyers' first PP opportunity of the season to help crash Boston's Stanley Cup banner raising party. Jagr hit 1,600 points in style. But GM Pierre Gauthier rejected pretty much out of hand signing Jagr as a free agent despite his obvious connection with Tomas Plekanec on the Czech national team at Worlds and his stated desire to try another Original Six city in Montreal.
Only Jagr's agent, former defenseman Petr Svoboda and Gauthier know just how cold was the shoulder the Canadiens threw at Jagr.
I do remember Jagr always saying he wanted to play for a Canadain team before retiring....I'd say what better time ....
Where did you hear that? I seem to remember we were in the Jagr sweepstakes pretty late, according to McKenzie et al on July 1st.
I remember last year when Gauthier went to Europe everyone was saying it was to try and Bring Jagr back since he had played so well with Pleks. but he went over to sign Emelin and denied everything from wanting to sign Jagr

If Jaromir Jagr returns to play in the NHL, it will not be with the Canadiens. Without saying so in those precise terms, his agent, and former Canadiens defenseman Petr Svoboda admits that the Habs has demonstrated limited interest to fellow Czech
Jagr said a lot of things in his career, and a lot of them were BS.
I feel much more optimistic with Gauthier gone .
I mean look at all the people praising MB saying after speaking to him they know Habs are going to be in great hands.I never one time heard anyone say that about Gauthier , did you?
No agents took Gauthier too serious IMHO, heck just look around the internet how the media was over Gauthier for his " unseemly","unprofessional" "weird" behavior...Imagine the talk behind closed doors???
And yes Gauthier got Cole, but Cole wanted to come to Montreal anyway .
I do believe Jagr wants to come to Montreal, but not for chump change Gauthier might have offered.
Once again Pierre Gauthier act like an idiot.......
Pretty sure it was going to be either Cole or Jagr that he signed and Gauthier made a good signing by getting Cole.
Before the year started we had Cammalleri, Gionta, Kostitsyn, Pacioretty and Cole as wingers who could play in our top 6 and then we had Plekanec, Gomez, Desharnais and Eller at centre.. our top 9 was full as no one expected Gomez to be THAT bad and Desharnais/Eller were better than 4th line players.

Gauthier WASTED so much cap money last year he could have had Jagr easy.
I know they picked Darche over Jagr, but let's see 5000 -10,000 Jagr Montreal jerseys x $200
Ah yes, this part. Where every year a big name UFA is rumored to come here, tours the city, meets everyone, increases his value on the free agent market, then signs elsewhere at the last minute.
