Braun did fairly well in the NHL this season. Irwin did fairly well for a half a season in the AHL...

What Irwin has done thus far is more than what Braun has done prior to his NHL chances. If people believe that Braun had earned his opportunities when he got them then there is no reason to believe that Irwin hasn't.

Generally, a dman must show that he is solid first pairing in the AHL to get a real chance at promotion. From 210 and speed, I am not under the impression that Irwin is solid first pairing while I was certain that Braun was.

Even if he was, he's played a whopping 43 games in Worcester. That's not exactly showing that in a good enough sample size.

Irwin fell apart the 2nd half of the season. Pelech and Acolatse are ahead of him. And if Sullivan were still here, that would make him a #4.

I never see Irwin ranked in our top prospects. Is there a reason why he's being talked about?

DH, obviously.

I love seeing that the California kid is doing well in Worcester.

5 games...that's pretty green.

Because the people that rank prospects generally don't watch prospects...

Never heard him mentioned really anywhere. I doubt the hockey media is that terrible with SJ info.

He was an AHL All-Star last season...the fact he's not mentioned often speaks volumes about the inadequacies of most sites that rank prospects.
