So NYR wont Qualify him? Weird. Thats good news for Zucc though, then he might get picked up by a different team and escape Russia if i understand the RFA rules correctly.UFA after on July 1st?

Seems so untypical NHL teams that Ive got to wonder if they are trying to help him out finding a different team in NA or something?

Fully understand his move and best of luck to him. The guy is very talented and is going to come back to the NHL at some point and do well... especially if he ends up on a team that understands how to run an offense and a PP.

If the Rangers have no intention of ever bringing him back, than they could just be doing Zuc a solid and not squeezing out something minimal from a trade and letting him go anywhere he wants.

Theres really nothing sadder than a group of fans whining about a guy "getting the shaft" when the tools and/or physical attributes just aren't there to begin with.

I dont think Zucc have gotten so much attention here on the forums or on other new york rangers blogs. Only this thread has he been discussed often. Think about all the attention Kreider got long time before he even was on the team.

Yep, thats what i was thinking also.
If thats the case, classy move by NYR to not hold him "hostage" by qualifying him and maintaining his rights even if they are not doing anything with him.

That would have been a very classy move by The Rangers. That would make me respect them even more, and of course make me root for them even harder to win The Cup.

NHL-coach Paul Maurice has signed with Mettallurg Magnitogorsk and will be Zukes new headcoach.
Which team has he coached and what kind of hockey do he prefer?

In other words,do you think Maurice and MZA could be a good match?

He coached Toronto for a couple of seasons and Carolina for like a decade or something. I think he also was a coach for the Hartford Whalers at the beginning of his career if I dont remember wrong.

Why would you be happy he's gone? Was a good kid who provided some offense for us during stretches, where's the harm he caused? Is it a big deal that he's gone? No, but I don't see a reason to be happy about it.

What did he ever do for us? He provided SOME offense but not consistently and plus he was very small, no reason to keep a kid with his size who barely plays.

He was a SO specialist and chipped in a lot of timely goals. You make it sound like he was a useless/liability like Donald Brashear.

MDZ are you from his home country? just asking because he really wasn't that great. Talented and inconsistent is how i would describe him, he is replaceable and surely not a 30 goal guy

Sir...

You know what zuke is?

A TEAM PLAYER..

First goal he scored, what did he do? Turn to his team mates to cheer with them..

His last shift as a Ranger..,what did he do after breaking his arm while blocking a shot, you know..FOR THE TEAM..he finished his play and got the puck out of the way with his one good arm..

He was more of a team player than several current players..

I'll catch heat for this statement, but he was better than Hagelin both on the backcheck and on D!!

Hags cost us game 6 vs Devs with his usual lazy out of place defense play. And don't get me started on Hags last 20-25 games incl the play off's where he simply skated along trying not to get noticed..

I'm not saying zuke is the be all end all type of guy but he should've been given a better chance..

As for his khl future, if he can be on the AHL all star team, then he could make waves in khl too.

Zuccarello should definitely be given another shot, especially if we don't add Radulov.

Want a guy who can create scoring chances with his skill? Zuccarello is that. He probably doesn't want to sign a two-way deal because he thinks he won't sniff a chance again even when he deserves it.

I'd give him a one-way deal, which means if we don't keep him on the opening night roster, he'd have to pass through waivers and he'd definitely get claimed and get a shot with another team. Or we could just trade his rights to a team that will give him a chance. We only have four picks this draft so if we're not going to use him, we should at least try to trade him for a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Ha ha.Its fun to ask a question about MZA since people get mental over hearing about him. (Not you )
I did not stated he was the messiah of NYR,I asked about his new coach.

Hartford Whalers and Carolina was the same franchise. It was The Whalers who become Carolina in 1997.

Trough out the day,I have learned that Maurice like defensive responsible hockey, and like skilled players,so maybe MZA get a chance to play his game?

Anyway, good for him to have an English speaking coach. But I can imagine it`s hard for Maurice to coach a bunch of Russian players. Some of them, like Lisin, speak English though.

I wish them both good luck.

Edit: Tom Barraso also join Metallurgs coaching staff
