I would have no problem having him on a wing opposite Gionta with Plekanec in the middle. However, I don't really think the Habs should be looking at him. Of course, it all depends upon what kind of trades are made and who we draft.

Quote:
Shoalzie That doesn't mean he's interested though, right?

He'll sign with a contender...and the Habs aren't exactly a contender.
Actually, I think you are dead wrong. The Habs had a down season, and were snakebit with key injuires to important pieces:Markov and Gionta being the most important. As the team is right now, they can contend for the playoffs, thus making them contenders. They made the playoffs the year before with a weaker team, they will definitely contend this season, barring serious injuries again. This is the new NHL, and parity means that everyone can contend.

I'd rather see him retire in Pittsburgh

That's the biggest question mark. Also, signing Jagr might make a bit of a difference.

If we sign him, we sign him. If we don't, then I don't care and I'm not going to call the guy a bunch of names for not signing here.
whats that?

For the next season.I have no problem signing Jagr for one season.Even at his age he would still be one of our better forwards. He really didn't look out of place in the Flyers lineup.

Forsberg shouldn't be in the NHL next year.

Now, if it was Ottawa or Washington here in the finals, that would be an underdog coming through.
Washington are usually one of the best teams in the East, so they are no underdog.

Washington

The Caps are not even the second best team of their division.

Montreal was interested last year, right? They may still be, but I doubt Jagr is.

Why Jagr would sign in that hockey market is beyond me.

The Caps are not even the second best team of their division.
They finished second after Florida in their division .. If they at least had another win or two points they would've been 3rd in the East.
And btw I said Washington are usually one of the best in the East. By that I meant that they often finished among the best in their conference; They finished first in the East in the last 2 years, and second before that ...

LA is way better team than Montreal. Just look at defense, offense, goaltending.

No surprise, it's not the first time rumors have floated around saying the Habs are interested in Jagr. Such rumors wouldn't be considered "tampering" because what they are are exactly what I said - rumors for now. The Habs know they can't talk to Jagr before July 1st and Jagr knows that too. This is merely a rumor coming from the Habs' side that they could be interested if he hits the market. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I personally think Jagr stays in Philly but as we all should know by now, over the years money has been something that has heavily influenced his decisions, so who knows. We'll have to wait and see.

Jagr wants money and whoever pays him, plays him.

I'd argue the goaltending isn't THAT far off although Quick has really stepped it up. The rest? Meh. Habs have a decent 1st line and guy like plekanec. Bourque is kinda like Penner. Subban, Emelin and others have value and can be deemed players who contribute to a certain role for success but yeah, in terms of depth, size and top end skill, LA is significantly better(no sarcasm). I wish habs got Carter and/or richards.

^ cynically accurate

he played the entire league for fools last year "ill even play for free if mario asks me". the man wants dollahs! nothing wrong with that, but at least, any issue not money-related for the jags can be put aside.

Subban and Jagr playing on their off sides on the PP would be pretty rad...
