I really hope we can get one of Staal, MDZ, or Girardi for him, maybe even as part of a bigger deal. If Suter leaves, we're gonna need defenseman. You guys have the depth to lose one and still be OK. I wish we could get McD, but im not stupid enough to think that happens
I'm not great with value so I'm just going to throw out a bunch of deals and see what happens.
Radulov+Blum for Staal+Anisimov
Radulov+Suter's rights+(pick/prospect?) for Staal+Duby (cap dump)
Radulov+Ellis for MDZ+Hagelin
Radulov+Wilson+Blum/Ellis for Staal+Kreider/Stepan
Radulov+Wilson+Suter's rights for Staal+Hagelin+Duby (cap dump)
Like I said, just some random ideas. General form is Radulov+(Preds young D) for MDZ/Girardi/Staal + (Young NYR forward). Wilson could be dealt. Lindback, Halischuk, Sergei Kostitsyn, and Spaling could be thrown in.
IF Sather does trade a 2nd for Radulov, then it would prove to me that Torts has absolutely no say in the players he gets to work with on the ice. This kid is the anti-thesis of Tortorella hockey. While no denying Radulov's talent, he is just another in a long line of Russian players that think they can just get by on individual talent alone. Tortorella will crucify him the first time he floats or take a shift/game off. When that happens, I don't think Radulov will gain respect for his coach, he'll probably pout an whine all the way to the bank. On paper a low 2nd for his rights is a bargain+. In reality I think Sather & Co would be taking on a bigger headache. Look at what Torts did with an injured Gaborik in game 2 of the semis. Imagine the hammer he'd drop on Radulov. He does not have the mentality to win in the NHL.
And that's ok because at this point, Sather is more of the solution and Torts is more of the problem.
If we can add Radulov cheap enough, especially w/Gaborik apparently out w/rotator cuff related injury, on a short deal to make sure we're not locked into a head case --- just in case --- then fine.
And if Torts doesn't like it, that's too bad, we can get a solid pro coach with a less insane system quite easily.
I don't see how Nashville can get a 1st rounder from any team.
Probably 2nd + Prospect.
Because an RFA capable of 80 pts over a full season. If its true that the Rangers would require the ability to talk to him beforehand, a first becomes an underpayment, which is why I don't think that type of deal is the sort likely to go down.
