It's not about Fleury getting too much work. What it's about is having insurance if he keeps faltering.
The 2 go hand in hand with Fleury.
Fleury has strectches where he is a top 5-10 goalie in the league, then he has stretches of games where he looks like Crawford. If they can limit the Crawford games and keep his confidence level higher..Fleury will be fine.
Oh, snap. I thought coldsteel was just throwing a goalie proposal out there. Pittsburgh is either going to keep going with Fleury and have a very reliable backup if he ***** the bed or is going to roll with Vokoun as the starter.
I think I see the Pens trying to tandem these two so MAF isn't ridden so hard during reg. season. As far as backups go Vokoun is pretty high on the list.
The real question is if all it cost for Vokoun was a 7th rounder and 2mil a year why the hell didn't Bowman do that?
Oh yeah, he thinks our goalie situation is the best is could ever be.
He coldsteel what's up buddy?
Do you think WSH makes 28 calls after the offer hits his desk. and says "Hai guys imma get 7th for this old dude's rights who wants to beat it? kthxbai!"
Vokoun looked awful last year, is old, and despite his one time goaltending prowess looks like he very well may be on the downward side of his career.
I won't say Crow is better... but we already have 2 bad goalies signed do we really need a 3rd?

Why doesn't WSH sign him to be their back-up? He's better than Neuvurth.
Why? Because he's a 37yo goalie who is a groin pull away from retiring. If it was a 1yr deal...I still would be skeptical of signing him. The fact that Pittsburgh was the only contending team to offer 2 yrs is very telling.
Yes, he most certainly is an upgrade. He may not be the best playoff goalie, but he would upgrade our G position for sure. But not enough to make it worth acquiring him.

So how do Hawks upgrade G position getting the worst goalie of last 3 years come playoff time?
This Thread = people saying Pittsburgh's defense was terrible and that MAF is amazing. And saying Crawford was awful because defense is no excuse.
Yes, he is.
I'm not saying anything about PIT D or CHI D, I'm saying Fleury is better than Crawford..(which only an idiot would disagree with)..I'm not saying he is amazing, that's just how crappy Crawful is. Fleury has proven he can help his team go deep, Crawford has proven he can lose in the 1st round.
Ask any goalie scout, coach..whoever. They will side with me, guaranteed.

Fleury hasn't shown he can help his team go deep. He has shown that he can stand back while they go deep, or hinder them from getting out of the first round.
M A-F is a world class goal tender...CC is a scrub. There is less than ZERO % chance the Pens trade him. All they did today was replace one 35 year old goalie with another...no barring on Marc at all...you would get laughed out of this town (I live in Pittsburgh) with even the suggestion of this trade.

You've just proved you know nothing about hockey.
What was Fleurys sv% in 07-08? ..when his team was 2 wins from the cup.. What ring does he wear on his finger? Both of those things are things Crawford will likely never achieve.

07-08 was one year, he had one good playoff.
what was his save percentage the year he won the cup?
actually, what was his save percentage for EVERY SEASON other than 07-08?
Wow, some of you people will pick up any overpaid goalie on the market to ruin this team. I'm glad I see some people with some sense in this thread though so all hope is not lost.
