What ever happened to Byron Dafoe?

I was wondering what happened to him, and why no team was interested in him all year?

I thought that he retired after his stint with the Thrashers but hockeydb.com show this :

----------------------------------

2005-06 Omsk Avangard* Russia

* No longer on active roster.

----------------------------------

So i guess that he probably tried to play in Europe , sucked there and then re retired.

According to HockeyDB.com, he was signed with Omsk Avangard in the RSL for this year but is no longer on the active roster. And no stats are available.

So yeah:

Last I heard, Dafoe, Terry Ryan & Harold Druken opened up a bait and tackle shop in Phoenix.

Yeah, he has a couple of good season under his belt, but overall, he's never was that good...

The Omsk site doesn't show anything in the final stats for this season. I would guess he never even played a game with them. Checking the site did answer the question where is Norm Maracle .

Dafoe had a terrific regular season in 2001-2002 but was very shaky in the 6 game loss to the montreal canadiens in the eastern querterfinals that year.

He never got back to form after that.

Dafoe had a run going with the bruins where he was referred to as lord byron. He had some very good regular season years but never had much playoff success.

He played 2 games in 2004-05 with Avangard VDV in the Russia 1st League (could be considered like the third league of hockey in Russia & and is also the farm club of RSL Avangard Omsk)

The problem with that statement is that he wasn't that great but the team in front of him was. Since the team in front of him was good, he looked good as they made it easier for him to win games.

All in all, I'd say he was always an average goalie.
