considering San Jose has been borderline fire sale for the last what...4 years? after constant failure...I could see this happening...prolly need to pad it with a 3rd or 4th rounder from next year or someone a little higher on the food chain than Dauggy...but you're in the ballpark

**** yes to Marleau.

Silfverberg-Spezza-Marleau
Michalek-Turris-Alfredsson

BOOM. I'd also trade for Clowe.

We badly need defence.

No top-6 forward can make up for our current blueline.

You didnt hear that Lyamin is coming?? Allegedly

Then Boro and Weircoch... Blueline should be incredible. Then in a year or 2 we can move Cowen for a younger D prospect.

Why are we talking about moving our 1st rounder for a 33 year old?

Value is there, and I like Marleau, but the deal makes no sense for us. We're not at the end of our re-build (re-tool, whatever).

Let's wait 2-3 years, let our young prospects mature a little, THEN trade our 1st rounder for a 33 year old who can put us over the top. Making that kind of move now is silly.

1: is Lyamin seriously attending camp?
2: Cowen is Karlssons future pairing partner. He goes no where.

Marleau would be a good fit in our top 6 but not if it costs us our 1st rounder.

- It was in response to comments in the Roster thread. Sorry.

- I know. It was sarcasm. Some people think players peak at 24.

Thank god it's June and we'll start seeing some movement soon on our way to July 1st.

The Kings are a good example of the fact that a good hockey trade can still work. I hope we can swing a deal, because we thought we had an abundance of NHL ready forwards last year, and this year we have even more...
Or the trade they didn't make i.e. Dustin Brown.

I was curious because I had never heard about any of our Russian picks wanting to come over. Jesus calm down.

Ottawa has said they like 14 players - of the guys they want are gone I could see them flipoing this pick for a short term pick up that could make us the best team in our division - with Tim Thomas retiring Boston's taletn level took a huge hit

Except they have this guy named Tuukka Rask... I hear he's pretty good... or something.

Marleau does not fit the rebuild & if I remember correctly didn't want to come to Ottawa in the Heatley deal which is why Michalek was added to the deal. A better fit is a good young powerforward like Chris Stewart RW, if he is made available by St Louis.

even though stewart would be great, i'd rather use the first to get a defenseman.

I wasn't suggesting we use our first rd pick to go after Stewart, I think we have enough good assets that we may be able to package for Stewart without our 1st this yr. I would wait until maybe after the first rd to approach St Louis about a trade for Stewart. I also wouldn't include in a trade Lehner, Stone, Noesen or Zibanejad for him.

oh ok, you quoted the 1st rd pick, daugavins trade post so i thought you were replacing marleau with stewart.
