So if there is a modified amnesty clause, Lou makes perfect sense, but otherwise, we shouldn't be dealing anything of significance, that doesn't absolutely help our cap situation, otherwise.
He doesn't make $5.3 for the next 6 years. He makes $6.7 million the next 6 years.

And what is standard practice about restructuring a deal. We've never seen anything like it in the nhl.

Kiprussoff, Backstrom and Luongo are probably our only options now. Luongo makking the most sense and I'm confident Burke can put a good deal together and get another asset in return

It's not standard practice, I said it SHOULD be standard practice. In the NFL, you restructure a deal so your team can save money, and bring in great pieces to play around you. The same thing should be allowed, in one form or another, in the next CBA.

Look at Redden. He's an NHL defenseman at 3 million. At 6+, no way. Restructure that deal, and the guy is playing where he should be, and the team adds a player with capabilities, at a cheap enough cost to be able to afford another deal.

It really just makes too much sense on both sides, IMO.

Restructuring and creativity of deals with a salary cap, was a terrible problem for many years in the nfl.

Why would Luongo want to reconstruct his contract. Does he want to lose money?

If he does end up playing here...I'm also hoping we don't do that "Louuuuuuu" crap.

It's annoying and it sounds like they're booing him

Yeah, I agree on that chant. Well first thing is for him to get traded here, but seriously let's come up with something better than that.

Never thought I would say it, but we need Luongo.
We need a capable goalie, yes. But we don't need to gut the team in exchange for 5-6 years of service.

I don't think the trade (if it happens) will leave us screwed for the future. I, myself, am really interested what the return will look like.

As long as it doesn't involve the #5 pick and Gardiner (or some other outrageous proposal), I wouldn't mind Burke making a trade for Luongo.

After hating on Bobby Lou for so long I don't know if I could bring myself to welcoming him as a Leaf and rooting for him.

I am so happy that we didn't go the old guy at the end of his career for cheap NTC route for the third or fourth time since the lockout.

Luongo or Kiprusof. Go big or go home but please, God stop going medocre.

would you rather: "vokooooooooooouunnnn"?

I'm glad we didn't go after Vokoun. He's not consistent and that groin injury has me concerned. It would be like having Giguere 2.0.
