I think I need a beer.

Well it's the first decision Bergevin does which I don't agree with.. He won't last IMO.

Unlike others I dont mind getting back an ex-coach. Given the available coaches I guess he was the best candidate.

I hate the choice too but when you look at the French language requirement, your pool of qualified candidates is very very thin. At least he is better/more likeable than Cunney.

He's had multiple chances...and screwed them up royally.

i would give a rookie, up and coming coach, 2 years worth of time to prove himself. Much harder to do with an washed up, hope to come back as an average coach.

It won't be easy for Therrien. It's not a great team at the moment - bottom 10 in the league quite likely. Unless Bergevin can sign a couple of very decent UFAs or make a couple of decent trades, the team that ended the 2011-2012 season won't be great next year, no matter who they picked as coach.

Therrien at least talks to his players and has experience. I don't know how good he is with the young players. I know he likes a tough team and that's good - but does he have the horses to play this way.

Just as long as he doesn't hire his idiot brother, he should be ok.

To be fair, no coach would have turn the early 2000s Habs into a contender, let alone a Stanley Cup winner.

And if Hitchcock can come back and coaching a young team, Therrien can too...

Not my favourite choice by far, but given that we're more or less hamstrung by the language issue he's probably the best of a bad lot.

I REALLY hope to eat crow on this one, but this will not work. He will yell and scream at the team "Carbo style" and they won't have any motivation to play for him..

But maybe he changed. Maybe.. But I see this as a big mistake...

« Dans ce domaine, tout le monde fait des erreurs. L’important, c’est de ne pas les répéter. » Michel Bergeron.

That's what I mean.. Even his buddies recognized he made mistakes throughout his career. Let's hope he has changed...

Come on guys. He wasn't my first choice, but I don't get the bashing.

Look at the line-ups he had when he was the habs' coach? Yanik Perreault, Richard Zednik, Jan Bulis... He did decent things with these guys? The circumstances were against him.

As a coach of Pittsburgh? He was at one game to win a Stanley Cup and when he was fired, he had a bunch of injured players. And the video that everybody uses to ridiculise him, come on!!! He was right! He said things the way they were. Isn't it better than a coach saying "we gave our 100%, we need to keep working harder, keep the game simple" like all the coaches always say?

Even if he wasn't my first choice, I'm ready to give him his chance before bashing him.

Who would honestly have been better than him? Crawford? Don't make me laugh!

Yell at the team "Carbo style"? What?

One of Carbo's problem was lack of communication with the players right? Bah nvm... so much drama

I think we're dodging the real issue here: L'Antichambre lost a great cast member today.

I hope Bergevin hired therrien for the new coach he will become and not for the coach he was. How will this attract UFAs? who would actually choose to play for therrien??

For the record, until he gets fired or earns respect as a competent coach, I will be referring to him as Mike. It was good enough in Pittsburgh and it's good enough here.
