How will a guy with Therrien's coaching style fit with Subban??? I just don't see it.

this makes me hate gauthier even more...
had he offered muller the bulldogs job, Muller would have been the HC language be damned.

instead we get therien

i hope that the reason Roy didnt get teh job is cause he bombed his interviews and had radical demands cause i would of like to get someone new instead of therien or crawford.

whatever i'll give mike a chance i guess but atleast we wont have soft hockey and probably means gomez is gone

You really think this kind of thing was not discussed during the interview process?? Im 1000% positive it was and MB clearly liked the answer he got.

I am not ****ing hoping he fails, nor are the majority of those of us who didn't like him the first go around and are totally disappointed by this.

anywho,

This better bring Crosby here.

I have little faith in Therrien.

I rarely ever criticize management. Did it last year when Habs didn't sign back Hammer or sign an adequate replacement.

And this time, Therrien. I just can't believe it. That's the best Bergy could do?

After sleeping on it, I think bringing him back for a 2nd dance is really good idea, and good karma.

He is humble and this least bit arrogant (cough Roy, Carbonneau), hard working, preaches toughness... he has been an underdog all his life and most importantly, he has grown from his past experience, not only hockey wise, but likely emotionally as well.

All in all, I think we're going to get a reformed Therrien, a man who has had the time to reflect, change and move on.

Once again, great hockey karma going into this.

Of course it was. Which is why I'll assume that Therrien has changed his philosophy a little, because the Therrien of old and Subban would not work imo.

You can officially forget him now, not that he was going to come to Montreal anyways. The way Therrien left Pittsburgh we ain't getting many ex Penguins to sign here

Sadly I don't think that will ever change.. I would have preferred Hartley or Crawford over MT.

i dont see how we can blame Bergevin though.

What choices did he have?
Forget boucher cause Martin was still there and Guy wanted a HC job but Gauthier let Muller go. Muller would have been the ultimate choice for this team. Gauthier screwed this team so deeply that we would be out of the hole for awhile.

Vignault gets extended. Julien not fired. Quenville stayed with the Hawks and Groulx stayed with the piques.

The media put this whole french speaking coach pressure on the team.
This was the worst possible year to go coach hunting.
Hartley picked Calgary, Crawford cant coach in the "new"NHL and i have a feeling Roy did not do well in the interviews so that only left Therien

Marc sorry but your the new GAUTHIER to fans and players on the team.I don't care what moves you make on the player roster , you made a huge ERROR....any good feeling you brought in, is gone .

Michael Farber from SI

Quote:
The prevailing theory is Therrien lost the dressing room. In truth, he probably never had it. He never was a popular coach, not that popularity is a prerequisite for being a successful one. (c.f. Bowman, William Scott.) Therrien helped turn Pittsburgh from bunglers to a Stanley Cup threat in three years, which is to his everlasting credit. He could be remarkably heavy-handed -- you remember his rant a few years ago when he threw his defensemen under the bus and then backed up and drove the bus over them a few times? -- but he actually had backed off a little this season after the run to the finals.

Earlier this season. Therrien told Pittsburgh writers, "I know this team, these players. I don't feel the need to send messages. They know what I expect and what I want and what wins. When they're not doing it, they know. I don't need to say it [in the press] anymore."

Of course, hardheaded coaches are a lot more palatable when a team is winning. With the Penguins languishing in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, Therrien's imperiousness and strained relationships with many of his players -- probably Crosby, too, although he never gave any public indication of it -- were not going to work.

Shero has turned the team over on an interim basis to Dan Bylsma, a former NHL player in his first season as head coach of the Penguins' AHL team in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. If he can revive Pittsburgh, Bylsma will stay. If the Penguins continue to founder in their final 25 games and miss the playoffs, next summer look for Shero to consider Brent Peterson, a Nashville assistant, or Todd Richards, who coached in Wilkes-Barre but now is an assistant to Todd McLellan in San Jose.

Ok for all my disappointment this is a joke post right?

"I'm done cheering for my team because of a coach who has yet to coach one game (in this tenure)...I'm gonna cheer for a team that's one win away from an amazing cup-run!"

Berg must have seen something in Therrien. I say - give the dude the benefit of the doubt. This team needs someone with some spit n' vinegar.

HOWEVER, someone better keep a short leash so that he doesn't ruin the young guys we have re: Subban, Price, etc.

I think if they bring in Robinson as an ass't - things might be ok.
