Because he has accumulated experiences + focus his mind on the game after having being sat a whole playoffs and watching Halak making his magic.

Groulx just happened to be a very good friend of Martin back in Florida.

Does this hiring officially spell the end of Cunneyworth?

Sure, just hard to say Groulx did a great job either.

Note: I wouldn't consider Peter Harold or Alec Martinez to be all world players either.

You don't need 6 rock solid defensive D to win a Cup or have a good defense.

I'm not too happy with Therrien but if we can get Carbo and Robinson then it's all good.

Larry Robinson for the defencemans
Denis Savard
Guy Carbonneau for the PK/PP

so 3 assistants WHY NOT

and I would do anything to get andre savard back in the management office. one of the best to find talent. Him and Timmins would be great.

I do not want Lapointe since he already let us down by signing elsewhere for less!!!

Tremblay and Carbonneau.

To complete the trifecta of the three worst Habs coaches in recent memory.

I speculated Odjick after the love-fest between him and Therrien on l'antichambre and Brunet because he has such a great hockey mind

But your choices could work too

I was just kidding.

But Nilan, if healthy (??? - can he stands on his legs for whole games ?) would be am interesting assistant coach. He coached in the minors somewhere after his playing career and he has some very interesting ideas.

Even if carbonneau is a friend of Therrien, I dunno in which extent he would accept a job as assistant coach now.... He seems pretty upset to not having got the big job.

André Savard would certainly be a great addition to the management/scouting departement.

Not sure I like hearing about the Martin Lapointe rumor....The guy who was clearly known for using the Habs so he'd get a better contract elsewhere. Add to the fact that aside from being an ex-player, you think that Therrien would be surrounded with better people than him.

Have you heard anything from Randy in regards to what he's been told? Has he had a discussion with Bergevin?

The utter ridiculousness of my nominations should have hinted that I was kidding too

No questioning Nilan's fire (but a bit redundant with Therrien as coach)

What does that have to do with his coaching ability? Its business, they will do what they have to do.

What coaching ability? The guy doesn't coach as far as I'm concerned. You want guys that will need to support Therrien way more than just be an ex-player. So on top of everything, you are not actually getting a well proven assistant coach.
