Torts on Costas tonight at 11pm on NBCSN

Figured I'd give a heads up in case anyone was interested in watching it.

It's just an interview via Satellite. He's not sitting down with Costas.

Are they just focusing on his relationship with the media? Meh, I'd rather hear about his assessment of the team.

Agreed. Hopefully (but I doubt it) they will focus on the team at least for a bit.

Oh, finally a useful question. Torts didn't know about Gabby's injury until after the playoffs and is giving him props now.

Lol. That article was terrible. I can't understand how some of these people have a job. How some one actually gives them money for their garbage.

Wow, Gabby was a little ***** when joined the Rangers(wanting days off, thinking he did'nt need to practice). I'm all for Radulov now that I heard that.

Badgering the witness.

Good lord that was more looking for a confession than an interview.

could Bob Costas questions be any longer? I'm surprised Torts could focus on the question long enough to answer them.

the shot blocking element is an interesting conversation.

Personally, I LOVE the grit involved in watching a shot-blocking team like this one. I guess I could see how it's wasted on the casual fan, though.

And as someone that's played a little bit, I don't think the players could give a ***** about getting hurt by a blocked shot. When have they ever? I've never worried about giving up my body in men's leagues, lol. These guys are paid professionals that don't have a day job to go to after the game. Hockey is their day job.

I usually love Costas, I think he's arguably the most intelligent and knowledgeable personality in all of sports, but I didn't think this interview was all that great. The interviews Torts did with Francesa and Kay were much better (obviously, they were much longer).

Yeah, I guess the focus was more on the league issues related to the Rangers (Tort's personality, the shot blocking, etc.) than the particulars of the team itself. So for us hardcore fans it's less interesting.

"There's a few people in there that I have no respect for and I'll admit that"....Brooksie

You know you've got a smart coach when he finds the small elements in the game and exploits them to the point of being game changers. Torts has done exactly that with shot blocking. The NHL can change the rules and some coaches may fail in the new system, but a true coach can coach in any set of rules.

The whole shot blocking drama is moronic. Why doesn't the league just make a rule banning players from skating backwards, that would help increase scoring!

I thought how he explained the whole shot blocking/pushing in the blue lines was really interesting and makes me wonder if the league is going to considering putting the blue lines back in light of this?

That bit with Pierre just further proves Torts point, some guys in the media get it. They know what to ask and when to ask it instead of chasing a story or trying to get info coaches aren't likely to give.
