Dreger "There will be offers for Schneider that will stop Gillis in his tracks."

As per team1040 radio interview this morning.

Seems like cory schneider trade could be a possibility.

What kind of player could "Stop gillis in his tracks".

A $5 Million dollar offer sheet would sure do the trick

Schneider+++ for Nash? I can't really see what the + could be.

Schneider would be of interest to the Jackets and Tampa for sure.

Uh no way. Gillis already rejected a trade proposal for Nash that included Schneider and much more

Unless the ++ is only the 1st round pick or something minor that's not going to be enough.

The following would stop Gillis in his tracks:

Stamkos for Schneider and Kesler
Giroux for Schneider and Kesler
Gardiner, Kadri, 5th overall pick for Schneider
Johanson, 2nd overall pick for Schneider
Any of the Oilers "big 4" for Schneider (including Yakupov in that)
Huberdeau and Gudbranson for Schneider
Patrick Kane for Schneider
Logan Couture and Ryane Clowe for Schneider

I love how people on these boards casually talk about offer sheets, and like they happen all the time. Look at past history, it RARELY happens, so stop acting like every RFA will get a huge offer sheet thrown at them. The chances of Schneider getting offer sheeted are very very slim.

Probably something like Purcell + 1st for Schneider. The Canucks should keep Schneider no matter what. Not only is he an excellent goalie, but he has the perfect attitude and composure for a media circus like Vancouver.

Purcell and a 1 is not the type of return that would "stop Gillis in his tracks."

Any chance Burke is after Schneider more than Luongo?

Not saying Schneider is actually worth that, but if there's a coveted young goalie you want to make available as "stop a GM in his tracks" then those are the types of overpayments we would need.

People also don't realize what they have to give in return if there is an offer sheet that isn't matched. You throw a ton of money to offer sheet Schneider and you have to pay for it as well. But I think the Canucks would match a 5 mil offer anyways and still trade Lu.

Ummmm...why??? If they wanted 10+m locked up in two goalies, they could just keep Schneider and run with Luongo and Schneider. Kesler is locked up long term, while Staal is a UFA next year. The more I think about it, that is a completely pointless and awful trade from a Vancouver standpoint.

Why not? I don't see the logic. Purcie + 10th + Gudas for Schneider + Tanev perhaps?

Knowing how you like outlandish lopsided trades, I think this works.

As a backup behind a larger than life starter.

When Cory starts getting blamed for all the Canucks short comings, his attitude will surely be tested.

There's a difference between "stop Gillis in his tracks" and "send Gillis into cardiac arrest".

Then just trade Luongo, too..(which I thought was a sure thing anyway)

The Canucks don't have a Stamkos who Purcell can leach points off of, and Purcell is yet another soft forward the Canucks don't need.

Not to mention he is from Boston, the best city in the world according to you, right?
