To who? If whoever offersheets Schneider 5 million gets him. Does Van have enough to fill in over 10 mill in goalies. It takes 2 to make a trade. I would offersheet him at 5 million and give up the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Logan Couture and Ryane Clowe for Schneider
Yeah I'm pretty sure a 2nd overall pick alone would stop Gillis in his tracks.

At best your proposal is about fair value (I would argue Kesler has more value than Staal and Fleury's value took a beating this postseason). Hardly stops MG in his tracks.

Yeah I'd probably do that as long as I got confirmation from Edmonton that they'll move the 1st overall pick to us for that 2nd.

Or just troll the Leafs, take Galchenyuk, and laugh at them. No goalie and no Galchenyuk.

I would do that deal in an instant. CBJ wouldn't though. Definitely not with Nash likely being dealt.

instantly match any offer sheet. You guys are silly if you think you are getting away with that. Schieds probably gets signed before the draft so if he was to get offer sheeted for 5 mill it would be for a 1st and 3rd and even then we match it. No offer sheet, done, over

Fairly certain that all of Kane/Couture/Huberdeau (probably the best North American prospect not playing in the NHL)/any of the Oilers big four are all worth more than a goalie who's never had a full season or playoff as a starter. 2 of Gardiner/Kadri/5th for him is quite a bit but possible, 3 is ridiculous.

Oh wait this is HFBoards. Have one bad year and get drunk in public (Kane) and have the same value as a backup goalie.

Dreger is getting less scoops with the Leafs and he's been way off lately. He's turning into another Eklund.

Yes. Just like I worry about Kesler being injury prone but would take Crosby in a heartbeat!

Would canucks fans match a 7 mil offer sheet? Not saying I would ever do it but just wondering

1 year? Nope. But I'd definitely tell Schneider to come back as a UFA the following year and that we will pay him that much at that time, before letting him go and collecting the picks.

Makes much more sense for Van to move Schneider instead of Luongo. They should be able to get a solid young forward that will add the scoring they need on the 2nd line with Kesler.

Depends on what the baseline. Maybe it was a low first and a b prospect. We don't know the baseline of what was expected.

You missed the whole part where this is speculation within the context of an offer that would "stop Gillis in his tracks."

Posted in a Luongo thread, I'll post it here as well;

Dreger: "If I was a betting man, Florida is the leading contender for Luongo."

Dreger strongly hinted that there will be some great offers for Cory.
Apparently on the radio this morning.

Dreger also said he is not saying gillis will take the offers, just that he might consider them.

He also said roberto wants out, so i think that unless that changes, cory is not going anywhere.

I did not hear him say trading cory is a possibility, that was the op's own words, he simply said he will be getting big offers gillis will have to pause and consider.

Unless the ++ is only the 1st round pick or something minor that's not going to be enough.
Really, what proposal was that again?
