Nashville to sever ties with Alexander Radulov
Guess I shouldn't have bothered to post the ESPN article--I suppose Poile is slightly more reliable than Brooks or Custance.

EDIT:

Quote:
“We feel the fit right now is not with Nashville,” Poile said. “He is currently in negotiations in the KHL, but still leaving the window open to a possible return to the NHL. I have reached out to a few teams in the NHL to see whether there is any interest. If there is there’s the possibility we could trade his rights. But that’s where it stands today.”
Speculation by me, but it sounds like the KHL is the more likely destination based on this.

sorry if I missed your post ... just added the link when Cooper tweeted it a few minutes ago. I think you're right on the KHL ... they are obviously planning to throw stupid money at 47.

ETA: looks like we simultaneously posted

No, the article I posted was citing unnamed sources, I just meant that your article was much better and coming directly from Poile, making the ESPN article essentially a waste.

I agree regarding the KHL--I don't think any team was going to come close to matching the money he'd get in Russia, and the only way he was likely to stay was if he really wanted to be in the NHL for some reason. From the sound of that quote, the NHL seems like the backup plan, or a tool to gain more leverage in negotiating his KHL contract to me.

Where have I seen that before ... They've become irrelevant in my book

I wouldn't go that far--ironically, and in fairness to ESPN (and Larry Brooks) both were spot on with their reporting . . . well before Poile made this public. The ESPN article was from early this morning, but I just posted it shortly ago when I realized no one had mentioned it.

The waste was me posting it literally 2 minutes before the article citing Poile was posted.

Not surprised. I'd be glad to get anything for him at this stage like a 2nd rounder for his rights. Doubt that will happen though.

And forgive me if I come across as brash. Ever since the firesale Leipold initiated to make the team more attractive to potential buyers we fans in Nashville have had to deal with countless fans of other teams, particularly large market or Canadian market teams, salivating any time a good Predators player has gotten close to market. With Weber last year (and maybe this year), Suter's situation, and now Radulov it starts to grate on the nerves. My apologies if I sounded like an ass.
No worries, bro.

The way his quote sounds, it's not even clear that he has any offers for him. Parsing it at face value gives you the following:

1) [Radulov] is currently in negotiations in the KHL, but still leaving the window open to a possible return to the NHL.

2) [Poile] ha[s] reached out to a few teams in the NHL to see whether there is any interest.

3) If there is there’s the possibility we could trade his rights.

So he's reached out to teams (likely over the weekend, because Brooks reported this on Sunday), but Poile is still treating the interest as an if.

EDIT: On second thought, the holdup could also be that teams are only willing to trade for him contingent on him signing in the NHL (which is probably likely). So even if he has teams interested, they'd only be interested in a Radulov willing to sign, so the ball is entirely in his court.

Well that settles that. Now that it's official I can stop being skeptical every time I read a report about how he definitely isn't coming back

It's in my nature to be skeptical

99.9% he's going KHL... otherwise Poile wouldn't undercut his trade value like this.

i can't think of anything positive that could come of these quotes from poile.. doesn't seem smart even if he is going to the KHL.

unless this is something suter wants? if so, what a diva lol

I think you mean he won't draft a Russian who's a head case again. Plenty of great Russian players out there that aren't mental like Rads.

What happens to Radalov's rights if he goes to the KHL? Will Nashviile still own his rights as a RFA if he ever decides to return to the NHL?

Not surprised we want to trade his rights.

I am a little surprised that Poile announced his intentions though. What's the point? Why not just announce it once his rights have actually been traded?

Not surprising at all. Rads wasno longer the scoring sniper we thought he was going to be. He was merely Martin Erat without a brain.

Truth is, before february, almost everyone assumed rads was gone forever anyway. Now we can accept that and know we didn't miss out on a superstar, we missed out on a talented headcase

Not gonna lie, kinda pissed about this. I'll get over it though. He's apparently still a prima donna who is all about the money or wanting to play in the biggest market in the spotlight. Oh well.
