Alright guys here is the poll thread to determine how we want this game to run.
EVERY GM MUST VOTE IN THIS THREAD FOR AN OPTION.
First order of business: Fantasy Draft vs. Current Rosters
This is probably the most important thing that needs to be decided upon. While a fantasy draft allows a GM to construct their team as they see fit, and gives everyone a chance at building their own championship dynasty, fantasy drafts tend to take anywhere from 1-2 months and is a very slow moving process.
It also requires everyone to be on HF quite frequently in order to make sure they have lists sent in or to pick in their time slots. Also fantasy drafts tend to slow down dramatically from rounds 12/13-20. I know this from doing these drafts for 3 years.
On the other side of the coin, using current rosters allow us to get into the game right away with doing trades, it gives some GM's an unfair start and others an advantage.
Either side has their pluses and minus, but it's completely up to the GM's.
Second order of business: NHL 12/13/14, etc simulation vs. Fantrax online simulator
The other topic that needs to be decided is which simulator wants to be used in this game.
For NHL 12, you don't need to have the game. I will take all the rosters and simulate a season, plus playoffs, in NHL 12 to determine an inaugural winner. During the chorus of the in game season I will provide frequent "around the league" updates so teams know the standings, possibly stats, and any other relevant information. This allows teams to make trades on the fly or be buyers/sellers come the trade deadline. Once we finish simulating a season in NHL 12 we will have an offseason complete with trades and free agency. Once that's over, I will transfer the rosters over to NHL 13 and again simulate a season, this time going along with the NHL season, and we will continue with each successive year.
For the Fantrax online simulator, I will take each roster and put them into the website. The sim engine will determine weekly winners based on points earned off real life statistics such as goals, assists, etc and separates the teams by divisions. The online simulator also goes through the playoffs to determine a winner. Again, you don't need to do anything for this idea, I will put the rosters in the website and either provide updates or provide you with the league name and password and you can check it yourselves.
