Great news, even more experience added. Maybe Bergevin should trade for Ribeiro now

Bergevin continues to surround himself with his buddies.

Wasn't player development supposed to be Mellanby's job?

I don't think Lapointe has much management experience.

He was director of player personnel, not really sure what the difference is between them.

Director of player personel, how many times does it have to be repeated????

Edit: Mellanby will take care of all the players in the organization; Prospects, rookies and veterans. He will provide them counseling and resources to whatever they need, he will help new players to adapt to the organization and even give his input into pro-scouting. He's going to be like Claude Ruel.

The idea to spend some of the Habs' money on a large front office is a good one, but Bergevin has to stop using it to just hand jobs to his buddies and start broadening the types of voices he listens to.

I think Player Personnel takes care of the players on the roster and does some pro scouting to complement the roster, while Player Development looks after the rookies and prospects, and takes over what Timmins used to do.

Man now we have Director of Player Procurement: Trevor Timmins. Director of Player Personnel: Mellanby and Director of Player Development: Lapointe.

I am really happy we are diversifying, but I need some clarification on what the difference between Mellanby and Lapointe's jobs will be.

I like the fact that Timmins can fully concentrate on scouting now (not saying he was bad) and not have to worry about the development of the young guys!

Lapointe will make sure these kids aren't screwing around, and then he will tell them the story of what he did, well I got a call from Boston and I left Detroit for the most money.....

Marc Bergevin
Rick Dudley
Scott Mellanby
Trevor Timmins
Martin Lapointe
Larry Carriere

That's a solid, solid management group.
