In any business, you hire who you feel comfortable with. Not necessarly weaker minded people, but people with whom you're most comfortable with. You don't need an ass shlit disturber in any organisation. It's like that in every organisation.

I'm starting to like what I see from Bergevin and the group he's putting together.

Worst. Example. Ever.
Marty is not the short of Martin. Marty is the english slang for Martin because anglophones were too lazy to learn how to say his name. Like Danny Brière. It's Daniel. That's how he's called in Gatineau.

As far as Lapointe goes, from what I've heard, Timmins was VERY overworked. At the very least, we can look at this hiring as gaining someone who can do this job 100% of the time, instead of timmins who had many other responsibilities.

How do you know it's not the case? Do you know them personally? I don't think so. Not even close.

Not a big fan of Therrien as a coach, but for the rest, I like. Most of the people hired are young, brash and part of the new 'breed' of managerial fellows in the NHL: Mellanby was highly regarded. Lapointe has experience and if his role is to be the Claude Ruel of today, I say yay! Finally! Martin will probably be able to stay closer to home and will love it. Plus, I would personally listen to Martin Lapointe trying to teach me how to be a professionnal if I were a wannabie. The guy won and played hard.

If Timmins himself loves the way management is building a solid team, I don't see why anyone here should have a problem. As long as the team continues to work as a unit and do the job well, there won't be many complaints - from management or from the fans.

Glad to know you're there to protect me, but... What are the odds that I make tomorrow's Journal de Montréal headline over Dehors, les Randys?

I am sure people are too lazy to 'learn' how to pronounce 'martin'.

In the case of Briere, he actually legally changed his name to Danny.

In either case, who cares? Marty. Martin. Same guy, same job, in the end.

I guess Danny was too lazy to learn how to pronounce 'Daniel', eh?

Americans think that every first name should be anglicized. Case and point: many foreign athletes' names were 'transformed' into slang. In hockey, the examples are a plenty: Kovalev (Alex instead of Alexei), Ovechkin (Alex instead of Alexander), Marty Brodeur (instead of Martin), Danny (instead of Daniel), Gino Malkin (instead of Evgeny), etc. That how they think. We don't do that here.

It's part of their culture. Robert (Bobby), Dino (Dean), etc.

Well in Québec, it's still Daniel, and in Gatineau, nobody calls him Danny. WTF is that? Danny??? Come on, man. His best buddies in Gatineau, his closest friends, call him Daniel. Not Danny. WTF...That's for lazy slang talkers.

Martin for an American is not natural to pronounce. Marty is.

Anyways, back to the topic: I'm happy Bergevin is surrounding himself with pretty young minds, instead of the usual old retreads.

I do enjoy the bit of hypocrisy though when it comes to Bergevin hiring his "buddies" as parts of management. When the old management unfolded, Gainey was criticized for giving jobs to his "buddies."

Not comparing the two management teams against each other, but still.
