Assistant Coach of the Connecticut Whale. Could work.

I think Andy Murray would be a great guy to bring over. He's working as a coach for the Western Michigan U Broncos. He could play the good cop to Therrien's bad cop. Daigneault as a former player might fit that role too.

Guy Carbonneau would be a great choice in theory but I think he would assume he's going to be the head coach after Therrien is fired. Not a good situation. Some may say the same about Murray but I don't think the team would have to worry about that.

Personally, I thought Martin/Muller/Pearn was a pretty good staff. I don't know what more they could have done with the horses they had.

Pat Burns, aided by Laperriere and Francois Allaire. They seemed to be All-Stars at the overall league level. I'm not sure what value to give Thiffault in the equation but he hung around a long time in there too. (I'm less charitable to Demers, but don't object if others want to credit him also.) The rest of our guys subsequently were more prospects or suspects... some eventually became good coaches elsewhere (like Vigneault and Julien). Jacques Martin and Kirk Muller seemed to have us hopping for at least a brief moment of glory there.

For the assistant, i want somebody that could be the "best friend" for the players. Two guys i would see in that role is Ian Lapperiere or Chris Nilan.

As far as Groulx is concerned, it's mind boggling to see what he wants to do. Seemed at one point that he doesn't want to move that much, maybe only for Montreal. But I would give him the Dogs job for sure.
Andre Tourigny in Rouyn has also had multiple world junior experiences, as was interviewed a few years back for a Bulldogs position. Would like to see him in the pros eventually. Intense and work ethic.

Cunneyworth and Ladouceur fired by Canadiens; given recent hiring, likely candidates will include Jean Perron and Bob Berry

I now hope even more we can lure Larry Robinson from Jersey, especially for Subban's sake.

I think it's case of forgetting the sarcasm smileys.

I think Therrrien would like to hire his own guys, but the process that's started seems to me they are building a MGMT team. I keep hearing the word "Profile" so I bet they're making list's right now...

For the sake of it, here's what I'd want to see:

Hamilton: Groulx in charge with Houle and Bouchard (for the D's) as assistants. I would not have minded to keep Ladouceur though but in Hamilton. Tourigny could also be in play.

Montreal: Therrien with Mario Tremblay as an assistant and Robinson, Desjardins or JJ. Daigneault (who is coaching in the AHL) for the D's or anybody else that I don't think of that is experimented for D's.

Now...as far as Mario Tremblay is concerned...hear me out. I hated his tenue as coach as far as the mess with Roy is concerned, so for that alone, I guess nobody wants to see him near a Habs bench for this life and the next after. But my reasoning is that I wanted Lemaire. So the only way you have Lemaire behind the bench, is by getting the guy who was near him for how many years again? Tremblay in an assistant coaching position is at his place. And for whatever weaknesses Therrien might have, I wouldn't mind having Tremblay give some Lemaire type of help when it's needed.

That way, you groom your coaches for the future in Hamilton to prepare for the post-Therrien era. And you surround yourself with proven winners with the Habs.

Carbo is a given to me, because I think he already has the job. Did you see him on TV yesterday when interviewed? 'Michel Therrien choisi, je suis comblé'....what???? Means Therrien promised him a job as assistant.

Now THAT will be awkward, no?

As for the other one, maybe they ARE waiting for the finals to end before speaking with Robinson. But I would see Desjardins as a man. He's a very astute hockey mind. Did great with Philly as a consultant before coming back. Was coaching his kid in Blainville in recent years.

Daignault has lots of experience at AHL level in the NYR organization. He probably helped McDonagh a bit while he was there.

I remember guys like younger Brisebois and Desjardins praising JJ when they were playing with hin in the 1993 season and playoffs.

Yeah. Carbo and JJ would be good fits.

Daigneault would be good. Don't know if he will accept though. I read somewhere that he was pretty comfortable where he was.

I'm pretty sure Geoff Molson has standards and practices in place to ensure that Mario Tremblay will never have an important role with the Canadiens again.

Then again, he did almost select Pierre McGuire as GM.

And that qualifies him to coach an NHL team's defense? There are tons of guys out there with much better track records and experience who aren't former Habs players.

Watching "Le 5 à 7" on RDS and they just talked to Karl Dykhuis (oh the memories…) and they said Patrice Brisebois was given a job with the Canadiens, but they don't know what role he will have.

Any ideas?
