only 8 games left now

a 4-4 finish puts montrreal at 93 pts(2004 total) i still can see a95 pt season. both boston games and both buffalo games are winnable. split with NJ and ottawa and that means a 6-2 finish(97 pts)

It's funny to see how much the NHL has changed. Just looking at how much harder it is to make the playoffs this year.

ya i remember when montreal just outright sucked.

the leafs were ahead of them and in a playoff spot, theo was sucking, along with every other player on the team, everything was crap.

these days are so much better. just going outside in the warm air makes me think of Montreal in the playoffs (don't ask me how)

we really shouldn't take Montreal for granted, we could easily be in a position like the leafs, and if it wasn't for Huet, we would be in the leafs position, probably lower.

i mean think about it???? this is a rare situation. A team has a star goaltender and isn't really worrying about their backup goalie situation, just whoever they can get.

then the star goalie goes to complete garbage, and it seems as if the team is just going down down down. then out of no-where your backup goalie becomes the best goalie in the NHL, and consistently plays solid, solid solid hockey.

we are so lucky thank god for huet

It took time but things are coming together. They are playing better team hockey and I like how Gainey rolls all 4 lines for the most part. Have noticed that they are playing better in their own end, blocking shots but still tend to run a around a little too much.

That said come playoff time we will need everyone at their best and hopefully more goal scoring from several guys who have struggled to find the back of the twine. Zednik, Koivu, Ribs, Perezhogin, Plekanec. Great to see the team on a hot streak, keeps the doom and gloom posters away until the next loss.

True and also, when is the last time we've had 3 rookies with as much character and grit as Higgins, Plek, Murray?

WE should make the playoffs, theres one thing I would like gainey to work on and thats our power play, simply brutal lately. 1 for 9 wont cut it in the playoffs. When we had the 5-3 vs the bruins all they did was give the puck to kovalev, we got to be more creatif than that. Although are overall power play record is decent are power play is the only concern I have going into the playoffs, that and we need mike ribeiro to step up his game. Theres no way we get by a first round if ribeiro is invisible. Koivu is going to need some help.

Why is there never a guy in the slot at all times on the PP. thats the one thing that frustrates me most about it. there just seems to be a box formation and nothing ever in the middle of it.
