Justin Williams

i forgot where i read it (might have actually been ESPN (unlikely since they dont cover hockey) but i dont remember) but there was a quote in it that automatically made me think of the game today. "justin williams is the scottie pippen to the collective michael jordan of dustin brown and kopi"

thats a damn accurate quote

Yes. Williams is an intregal part of that line. He's a talented player with lots of heart and has had his hand in a lot of huge goals for us. Sutter helped to light even more of a fire under him. He is one that I am most proud of for his success this year.

I love how JW is the only dude in a suit and tie during the press conference. Carter and Kopi are still in their hoodies.

One of Dean's better pickups. For Patty O...wow. I remember when people were *****ing about losing that 2nd round pick, too. Williams is such a sneaky playmaker. Shifty with the puck and can finish. One of the more underrated guys on the team.

That pass tonight off the half-board ricochet to Brown that led to Kopitar's goal was sheer genius.

I get frustrated at times with Williams' stick play, losing the puck or overhandling it (sometimes I think he needs to tweak his stick to find a better fit for his stickhandling), but then he goes and makes a brilliant pass or play that makes up for it.

Very much so, Dean was adamant about getting this guy on our team, he's unsung, but I am always so glad when I hear other fans giving him the props he deserves.

He's been nothing short of terrific for us:

I dreamt about him getting a PP goal, I didn't know what game it would be in, but now that we have it in the bank, thank you Justin!

It's important that this player gets top notch treatment by the Kings as recently he was approaching UFA and signed a hometown discount contract to stay. Potential UFAs we may want to sign will look at his situation (and his butt tattoo) and see how great a place LA can be to wind up.

Exactly !
Just another one of his simple smart plays. That little tiny drop pass opened up space for Brown to skate to the middle and make that pass for Kopi. He makes so many of those smart little passes that opens up space.

Love him on the team.

Yup

If you dont want the media attention but yet you still want to put hockey as your top priority, then LA is the way to go.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but JW played all 82 games this year and every game in the playoffs. That is huge considering he was re-signed last year after getting hurt the last 10 games of the season (and played in the playoffs hurt). I think that is his first full season since being in Carolina. Probably back to 2007 or so. I'll have to look...

EDIT: Yup, first full season since 2007.

I always hated that the Flyers traded Justin Williams. He's a very talented player who gets overlooked sometimes due to his tendency to get injured. When he is healthy, he's a great skater and a terrific playmaker - one of those guys who isn't a real star himself, but has the ability to compliment star players like Kopitar or Eric Staal very well.
