It would leave us better off than last year, as well as give at least 1 kid another year to develop and take pressure off of cole.

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
LeBlanc - Plekanec - Jagr
Bouque - Eller - Gionta
Moen - White - Staubitz

Gorges - Subban
Markov - Emelin
Kaberle - Sarich**

Price

-----------------------------------

Following year

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
LeBlanc - Plekanec - Forsberg
Bourque - Eller - Gallagher
Moen - Bournival - White

Is this last year? I was sure this was an epic bump of a thread from last offseason.

What's the point for either side? Jagr should go to a better team and this team should not try to patch holes and squeak into the playoffs.

I'd like to know if Bergevin is rebuilding or retooling.

I would have thought his season last year would dispel a lot of this BS. Guess you've been under a rock?

was a big mistake not being the front-runner for his services last year (though in hindsight, had he come to town and helped the team early in the season, we'd likely still have Martin/Gauthier/Gainey running the show, so I suppose things worked out for the best).

while he did show himself quite capable in relatively limited minutes last season, at his age it's almost a certainty that he'll be that much more worse for the wear heading into next season.

with only

Cole
Maxpac
Gionta
Bourque
Leblanc

signed for next year (granted with Geoffrion/Palushaj/Moen as other potential top-9 wingers), Jagr would be a decent top-9 addition, but with the understanding that he'd be used ~16min/night (and with a big chunk of that PP time).

It would be very disappointing if Bergevin does this.

It's so odd to me that some people are actually against this.

Evne if he totally crashes and burns and is such a liability that by the new year he isn't even good enough to play 5 minutes a night it gives the team better depth at forward, and as a result allows for someone like Leblanc to spend time he could greatly benefit from in the minors.

And if he plays well (and he is apparently just a fitness freak) than they're playing with the houses money.

Where is the downside? Especially since the Habs will have lots of cap space and outside of Parise the forward market is piss poor.

Could possibly be the turn lemons into lemonade solution.

Very interesting idea.

Yeah it is funny that last offseason pretty much everyone wanted him...and complained when we didnt' make a pitch.

Then he actually comes to the NHL and at least meets and probably exceeds expectations and now fans don't want him?

If we can get him we should jump all over it. He would be a cheap 2nd line winger to play with Plekanec. He would create space for his linemates and from all accounts he was a good teammate in Philly.

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Smyth/Jones - Plekanec - Jagr
Bourque - Eller - Gionta
White - Gaustad/Paulsson - Moen/Prust

What are you talking about, Avtsin has similar talent to Ovechkin. He just needs to learn the North American game. Right? Right...?

We clearly only need to draft centers.

I prefer not to rush them. Sign a couple UFA's for the top 9 and let those guys get more seasoning.

I love Jagr, but I don't think we should be heading towards that direction.
