Chia could do the same. That 8-10 minute's a week can't be all that difficult to be semi interesting. He may not like doing it, he may not like them, but try and do it for the fanbase.

I'm sure it will be pointed out to me that I'm wrong somehow because toucher & Rich aren't 'serious'.

I fully agree with you. For whatever the reason, he's like that with every media interaction though, not just T&R. It always struck me that he was similar to Steve Kasper, meaning that he seemed to believe he was the smartest guy in the room at all times. I'm not sure if he's like that in real life, but his interviews come off like he's very condescending and being forced to speak with people well below his station in life. Could be way off, but that's just how he always carries himself, IMO.

Spot on. He did open up a few times with them and he wasn't bad. It just doesn't happen all that much. Maybe he's not a morning person, although as you said -- he's always like that. I'm not sure Howard Stern could get him to open up.

Understand the impression but don't believe Chia is condescending. He simply isn't comfortable with the public relations aspect of the job & dealing with the media. Speaking in public isn't his thing. Certainly he didn't care for Felger's antics, but what athlete/team rep does? If anything, I think Chia's a bit shy, even for a former agent.

Cam seems to enjoy the banter, reveals nothing, and can handle F&M with Sea Bass aplomb.

I'd still rather listen to Chiarelli than the interviews of drunks after the games.

Heck, if I wanna hear someone mis-pronounce local athletes names I can tune in to one of Menino's pressers!

Actually, F&M have featured Mumbles Menino's greatest hits in the past. Unbelievable. And hilarious.

Just goes to show you that football IQ is important. He's got the ability, just too stupid to pick it up in over a full year here. If he was anyone else, BB would have cut him a month into it.

Absolutely, he lacked the IQ and couldn't learn the Patriots offense. There were reports that at OTA's he was still asking Branch where to line up and on one play he lined up offside and at the end of practice he had to run laps because of the offside. In my opinion, he wanted it to work, but just couldn't figure it out.

Joey Galloway redux, but since BB liked him, they gave him a year to learn and he still couldn't figure it out.

About time.

Love Mumbles. He is really into all Boston sports despite what he sounds like. Super awesome guy too.

I feel a little bad for him (not his wallet), because he at least tried "the Patriot Way." It can't be much fun to have people dismiss you as "too stupid" to pick up the system. Ouch.

Simply didn't realize Ocho didn't have the toolbox.

Kind of a shame all the way around.

It is a shame all the way around. To your comment about Bill simply nit realizing Ocho didn't have the toolbox, that's what surprises me. That's something that the NFL insiders praise him for; his ability to bring in people based off of their football IQ and find a way to get them to produce. He missed bad both with Ocho and Haynesworth.

Fully agree with the other suggestions though. McDonough had a really enjoyable show before 1510 went under.
The only guy worse than Gresh is Sheppard. That's saying a great deal, because Andy Gresh has to be one of the most embarrassing alumni in the history of the University of Rhode Island.

Equally vapid "analysis," mixed with the above mentioned social ineptitude and self-deluding arrogance are what separate the two. "Blowhard" sums it up so beautifully. Totally and inexplicably in love with himself, just because of his 15 minutes of fame.

Sheppard makes Eddie Andelman sound like the Beatles.

Going on your assessment that Chiarelli thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and he's above everyone else, well Howard Stern is exactly the same type of person. They'd probably be really good friends.
