In St Louis there is a GM right? Armstrong? So why couldn't JD and Howson coexist here? If anyone is the odd man out it should/could be Priest with Patrick's role disappearing. His contract is up. I think it would be great if JD could replicate here what he has accomplished in St Louis.

However, my guess is he is a cypress and the Jackets were looking for a spruce. Or vice versa.

I suspect that he's had discussions with several teams, this meeting is just the only one that has become public. I hope it leads to a new leadership in Cbus, but I don't really expect to see it.

Yeah, I think he turned us down officially already, and this was 'leaked' to give the fans something to talk about, and to make The Mac Jr look like he's trying.

After thinking about this a bit more, and my eternal optimism showing through, if he turned us down already, it may be pretty bad form to leak the interview. We've already had some bad press about people not wanting to be here, this would certainly add fuel to that fire..... Maybe he has verbally agreed, and CBJ office is putting pressure on him to follow through by leaking the story?

AP's story was reportedly from NHL sources. Don't believe it came from Nationwide.

I know the potential goalie choices has dwindled but this is ridiculous. Davidson is way too old.

Thank you for making me laugh after sifting through all that depressing dreck from our emofans. You get a cookie.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Not me, everything is well so far in the Davidson drama.. Even if it fails the faint notion of this organization opening up to the world of professional NHL expertise was worth a day of optimism.

The suggestion was that Davidson was determining whether he wanted to be part of the Jackets, not whether the Jackets was determining whether they wanted him. This would suggest that the Jackets went after him.

Eric Smith's comments seem obvious. Aren't all interviews two-way appraisals in most situations?

One would assume. But he makes the CBJ seem more like an orphan pleading "please sir might I have some more?"

I'm ok with that. For too long the CBJ have been the macho guy afraid to ask directions when lost. Nice to know they're at least stopping the car.

Here's a link to the Cannon Fodder discussion of Davidson:

They all express great admiration for JD. Also some interesting comments on the fans' attitude toward the CBJ that most here will recognize.

They're is just so much negativity surrounding this franchise and team, it's refreshing to hear that someone wants to at least come in and be a part of the solution. No matter how you see it, I find it depressing to continually hear that no one wants to come to columbus. Grinds my gears.
