So Therrien, Breezer and possibly Carbo? This is gonna be one awful ES team.

When you though it couldn't get worse with the appointment of Michel Therrien, you hear this news

I'm glad I now support a team that has a legit shot at the cup

I'm not sure how Brisebois as a defense coach would work with a guy like Markov. What would Brisebois teach Markov? Really..

If he joins our coaching staff, I'm getting less and less excited about it as days go by..

It's more about what Brisbois could teach PK about shot choice

Patrice Breeze-By.

Patrice Brisebois was responsible for the "ole ole ole ole" sing song made famous in Montreal. It drew from the matadors in Spain. As the bull would go running by the uplifted cape, the fans would chant "ole".

And as forwards would skate by Patrice, the fans in Montreal would chant "ole".

Jacques Martin as Zamboni driver and this team is all set.

The only reason why he's being critisized is because of the over-priced contract he signed at 4mil$/a year, at a time when it was even more than what it's worth today. He was a fine D playing for the dullest Habs lineup in history (00's first years), he's a bright guy able to act as a leader, not afraid to speak his mind and has overall good experience. I'd be OK to see him as D specialist maybe less-so as assistant but overall I think he'd do a good job.

I don't really want Brisebois advising any of our young Dmen to be honest.
He wasn't a good Defensive player. He had some offensive skills especially on the PP but that's it, and really, what has he done to make us feel he'd be great for the kids? The man hasn't even coached in the minors or juniors..No coaching experience whatsoever, NONE. I'm supposed to have faith in him advising our young superstar now? Not gonna happen.

I'm skeptical about Therrien, I'd be even more skeptical about him if he's the one appointing Brisebois. No need to mention how extremely skeptical, again, about Brisebois...

No. He was chased out because of his salary. He is being criticized because he wasn't that good of a Dman.

He's not joining the coaching staff that would be a major blow to the organization's credibility as he almost has 0 experience. I think it's more an administrative role or figure head. Ambassador a la Guy Lafleur. Even scout doesn't make too much sense imho.

He played over 1100 games in the NHL including regular season and playoffs.

No one is sitting here saying he's a future hall of famer and his number should be retired but the guy was a legitimate NHL d-man whose only real fault ever was being overpaid.

He's being criticized because people need a scapegoat and with Gauthier, Cunneyworth and Gainey gone people need something to ***** and complain about...so why not ***** about the possibility of a man few of us know anything about getting hired.

If its as an assist. coach Im speachless.. As Bob Hartley said, the guy ****ted in the corners all his carreer long.. It has to be a very limited role..

Since when really good players make the best coach/assistants... He coached for Montreal in the Quebec vs Montreal series and showed he had character as a leader ( not that I fully approve of the said series and what professional information it gives ), but my opinion was the he was comfortable in a position of authority and dedicated to the said job... plus he played more than 1000 games in the NHL and also a brief career as a Nascar driver . The guy as more than enough than many candidates for a Dmen specialist, maybe less an assistant like I said before.

p.s my point with the salary was that it was the starting event for all the hate he received

and 420 pts in 1009 games still stands as a B+ on his NHL career exam

false, thats what the french medias wanted to make people believe, but for the ones who watched the game with clear eyes, Brisebois was cheating with regularity, not chasing his man along the board and everything to avoid physical contacts and physical battles.. Brisebois was booed first because he wasnt very brave, it just got worst when he got his 4.5 millions per year contract but he was certainly booed before he gets that big fat contract.. I would add that he played his best hockey when he got back from Colorado, the year Gainey shut down the haters, Brisebois was having a very good camp showing a willingness to pay the price, what we barely saw in the past and I was personally very happy to see Gainey to do this cause I felt this time the boos were totally undeserved..

I agree but I've also come to the realization that physical play on a long period of time will eventually turn on you and in order to play 1000+ games you have to adjust yourself somehow, sure it gives a good show but what if a guys like ovy and crosby played a little more reserved... they might have both had more productive years in 11-12.

Send a message via MSN to Rise from the Ashes
I could see him as a special assistant to the GM.
