We’re all wondering what moves the Buffalo Sabres will make during the off season. There is one announcement we can tell you to expect with 100% certainty. Rick Jeanneret will be back for his 41st season calling Sabres games.
...
The Sabres play by play man scaled back on his work load last season and it made an immense difference. “I felt great towards the end” Jeanneret said. “I missed the playoffs because I was ready to go. Having some time off in the season helped me out in that regard, a lot of less travel.”
The audio is there, they are still working out his contract but this is best offseason news so far in my book. RJ also talks about getting put in the Sabres Hall of Fame and No Goal.

I wish they would find someone good so RJ didn't have to continue. Let's face it, RJ was confused a lot last season. There were time when he didn't even know we scored and most of the time it took 4 players name before he got the one right that actually scored. He also did a lot of complaining and whining this past season. Dude is a legend, but his old age is starting to take over. He is still better than all the other options the Sabres have brought in, but I definitely don't enjoy his calling like I use to.

I'd still rather listen to RJ call games then Mike Emerick... He has a good voice, but good god man, shut the front door.
He's a pxp, color and Pierre all wrapped up into one.

Im split. Hes a legend and its great to hear him call games most of the time, but hes regressed a lot to the point I cant listen to him and Harry when given the choice.
Im not saying I prefer Sylvester, because hes not very good either. But im ready for the RJ era to end and bring in a new voice. I wish they would have snagged Dan Dunleavy before he went to the Leafs
Hopefully RJ can call ~60 games this upcoming season. I honestly don't mind Sylvester and Gare, if they call 15 games and then have the Sabres bring in a few guest play by play announcers to do the remaining games I would like that.
Rick is a legend and even if he is slipping a little bit, he is still top 5 in the league....let's win the man a freaking' cup, he deserves to call it.

I've said it in earlier threads and I'll say it again here... replace Neale with Duff and rock out RJ + Duff until RJ retires, then move on from there. Neale just doesn't provide the greatest analysis anymore. Pair RJ with someone who knows their stuff and can vocalize it like Duff, and you'd get a great broadcasting tandem.

Yep, I agree with you fully. But I'm not going to complain if he comes back again. He's pretty much been the voice of the Sabres, and I'll never truly be sick of him, he's definitely getting up there in age though, he's not as good at calling the games as he was before.
Then again, anyone is better than Sylvester.. HAAHAHA
Definitely. Listening to Sylvester and Gare was like listening to nails on a chalkboard.
As Ray would say, " No Taro, you're right"
But after a while I took perverse pleasure listening to them while watching the games on TV.
The only time I truly hated them was in the car listening on the radio. You literally had no idea what was going on at times. Sylvester was brutal at describing the play.
