Here are a bunch of interesting names some of whom will still be available for the 1st of our 2nd rounders (and maybe even the 2nd!):
Thomas Wilson RW, Plymouth
Tomas Hertl, C, Slavia
Stefan Matteau, LW, USNTDP
Nic Kerdiles, LW, USNTDP
Brian Hart, LW, Exeter Academy
Mark Jankowski, C, Stanshead HS
Martin Frk, W, Halifax
Sebastian Collberg, C, Frolunda
Dalton Thrower, D, Saskatoon
Phillip Di Giuseppe, F, Michigan
Mike Winther, C, Prince Albert
Oscar Dansk, G, Brynas
Tomas Hyka, RW, Gatineau
Anton Slepyshev, LW, Novokuznetsk
Boo Nieves, F, Kent HS
Dylan Blujus, D, Brampton
Matia Marcantuoni, C, Kitchener
Lukas Sutter, C, Saskatoon
Nikolai Prokhorkin, LW CSKA
My feeling is if Hertl, Collberg or Kerdiles are still on the board, I take one of them.
Otherwise, let's roll the dice on a high risk/reward pick (a la Jankowski, Nieves, Slepyshev)...unless we've taken a real gamble with our 1st rounder. For example, if we've chosen Grigorenko in round 1, maybe a Sutter/Thrower/Matteau type player is in order.
I can Colbourne, Gardinier, maybe Schenn as the targetted players we'd want if TOR really wanted to swap picks. But I have a hard time seeing it happen. I mean, either we get Galchenyuk, Yakupov falls to 3rd (I know, isn't likely) or we can select Forsberg. I really don't see a reason to move our pick unless they are willing to give up a sure fire big bodied hard working player
Colborne looks like a bust, or just a fringe #2 center. He had a hot start in the AHL but faded as the year went on. I would take Schenn and Gardiner before him, Kadri also. 7 points in 14 playoff games.
I'm not saying you're wrong but it would be funny if those are the first three picks in a draft that was reported being d-men heavy.
From what I have read only Murray seems to be Top 3 or even a Top 5 consideration. Naturally I could be way off. I think the Oilers would love to draft a defensman, but just passing on Nail would be a major issues IMO. They would need to trade that pick.
