In Elitserien, Pyörölä is a class player, pretty allround forward coming of one of his best seasons ever. In KHL I don't really know how he will do, seems pretty random with players moving between the leagues. Some finnish d-men that where doing pretty mediocre in Sweden seems to be doing great in KHL (like Mikko Mäenpää), others where stars in SEL and fell of the map in KHL.
Guy, it is a bussiness. The same thing has been happening all the time with NHL and NOBODY complains. At least I have not read it from you. Maybe I missed it. Guys will have better conditions in KHL, ok, let them go. OR join KHL (I know, you dont want to due... your choice).
btw, Slovan Bratislava (KHL) is luring finnish goalie from SM-Liiga and HC LEV Prague a skater from Norway playing in Sweden I hope. And dont forget that CSKA Moscow wants to sign euro skater (from NA?? from Elitserien/SM-Liiga? dont know). And yes, Donbass Donetsk is scouting SM-Liiga/Elitserien as well. I dont know about all KHL clubs, but these will sign somebody from SM-Liiga/Elitserien this summer. I am almost sure. Dont be suprised then.
Problem of euro hockey is finance - clubs can not offer top players such salary as NHL clubs. Now, KHL can offer similar salary and it is destroying SM-Liiga/Elitserien because leagues are producing top talent but have not money to pay/keep them. I can see two solutions - 1.accept the fact that it will happen every off season OR 2.create similar league (financially)/join KHL.
I dont want to debate on this topic, it is pointless to discuss it with some of you.
They are not stealing anything. They offer a player a contract and the player either accepts or refuses. It is just business. If you want to keep these players offer them equal contracts that the KHL teams are offering.
Same in Finland. KHL is destroying the league by signing top players in SM-Liiga this year.
I would not call that "destroying the league". SM-liiga can survive. Finland has over 60,000 registered hockey players and it's player base will always be strong enough for a 13-team SM-liiga.
And why don't I see this whining when SM-liiga or Elitserien players are joining NHL clubs. From SM-liiga's perspective it doesn't matter whether the players are leaving for the KHL or the NHL. The result is still the same.

you know, NHL is almighty league and we MUST accept all league is doing. SARCASM
There is not so many swedes in KHL really, the major drain to Eliserien is that the Sel-clubs have a hard time signing and holding on to top-euro players, like for example the best euro-finns that used to play in Elitserien. With everyone and their aunt of the swedish youngsters getting NHL/AHL-contracts the league isn't filling up with young talent at a rate that would leave the quality of the league unaffected.
So this leaves Elitserien with a lot of good players, but very few starplayers that sell tickets and entertain the crowd.
There is a whole lot of swedish fringe NHL-players theese days when they decide to give up the dream and return to Europe, lets hope they chose Elitserien (and not KHL like Robert Nilsson and Niklas Bergfors), since this would give the league a source of players of good european quality.

maybe yes, maybe not. I would say many of them will prefere KHL over SEL. Look, after a couple of years, we will have german, suiss clubs in KHL.. good destination for top Swedes.
Mika has problems with his offensive play in higher intense settings. But I really hope he turns around in the KHL since a Pyörälä that could also contribute offensively would be great for the national team.

Frölunda starting to look might weak on offense. I'm confident they'll sign a couple of players but i'm not sure the are going to finds two that fill Pyöräläs and Petterssons spots adequately.

Hopefuly this leaves room for Collberg .
They should try to let the youngsters fill in some of the void instead of buying more highpriced foreigners. The market on HQ swedes is pretty much closing. Sign one HQ forward and then be done with it IMO.

There is talks of Chris Conner of the Detroit Red Wings being signed by Frölunda soon. That covers up for one of them, let Collberg take the other spot and bring up someone like Jonathan Johnson from Super Elit to fill the role Collberg had this season. That's what i'd do at least. But i'm willing to bet they'll bring in Conner and then sign Dick Axelsson wich would mean one more season of poo for Frölunda.

Wait a minute, Conner is just one of the several guys they're looking at. Just because Hockeysverige dropped his name in there doesn't mean they're close to a deal.
Collberg is gone next summer anyway, no point in playing him. Frölunda needs to bring in about 50 goals, and you need at least five Collbergs for that.
In 2009, Erik Karlsson and Lars Eller were given really fair shakes, what happened? They took off immediately.
