And I think you are confusing the two Broten's. Neal, Aaron's brother was a mercenary in 1995. Aaron was a Colorado Rockies draft pick and played his first 10 seasons in the Colorado/New Jersey organizations.
Claude was great, and yes I saw every game. I think if Marty had a few more shutouts he would have gotten it. Two straight road shutouts in 95 against Boston. I like Lemieux don't get me wrong. Actually I even cheered for the Avs in 96 in the playoffs because of Claude. I was sad to see him go both times.

Marty lost the first two was replaced by Terreri for the next two which Terreri won then Lemaire put back Marty for the next two...Marty was shaky to start the 1995 playoffs and many thought he would lose the job to Terreri.

Wait...I'm wrong.

Brodeur lost the first two to Boston in 1994...sorry.

Both years they started with Boston.

Sorry again.

So this thread is basically name the best forwards in Devils history as there's no possible way to exclude the Scotts and Marty from any list.

Now one could make an argument to put Elias on LW and C so looks like we're set:

Elias-Elias-Kovalchuk
the Scotts
Fatso

My favorite's from the same era: MacLean-Sundstrom-Shanahan. Patrick Sundstrom is my favorite Devil of all time. My white-green-and-red Sunsdstrom jersey is still hanging in my closet.

Sorry, my parents technically named me after him. Had to do it

Lemieux was a beast during that '95 run. I still refer to that spot near the top of the right wing circle the "Lemieux Sweet Spot". That shot from there late in Game 5 of the ECF. Boy, good times, good times.

Yup. I'll go with that. Doesn't mean they weren't great while they were here, but not really Devils.

Fetisov was only 31 when he got to New Jersey....He just wasn't very good.

Maybe it was the adjustment to North America? Maybe it was the language barriers? Maybe it was the harsh treatment he received from so many other NHL’ers ? Maybe it was all the above?

But he wasn’t very good during his time in New Jersey at all. That fact he was/is considered an all time great defenseman amazes me because he was one of the devils worst defensemen during his time in New Jersey. A pioneer? Definitely! A great player? Not so much.

And please don't tell me about his international play because I don't care....Yeah professional hockey players beating up on guys who were accountants and carpenters in their real lives is so impressive.

Fetisov was also dealt away after being a healthy scratch for most of the 1995 season. Pretty sure he was a healthy scratch all that time at least. When the Wings got him he was in the lineup every night.

I would say once we got a stable D corps around 91/92, and into 92/93 he definitely was a back seat in my eyes to Stevens, Daneyko, Driver, Albelin, and a young Scott Niedermayer.
