4 goals in his last 34 games. He slowed down a lot down the stretch. Hes another year older. People around here were complaining about how bad he was down the stretch. Sure its nice to have him, and I like him as a Flyer, but a lower cap hit would have been great
and I wish I had super powers.
There was no way Jagr would've signed for under 3. Otherwise he would be signed for under 3. Thats how business negotiations go.
Lets just hope the Ice-time part of the deal still allows for Schenn, Couturier, JvR, Voracek, and Simmonds to get adequate ice time as well.
I hope he'll mostly get PP time, but I won't hope he signs for under 3 mil, thats just silly.
this team has enough offense especially with JVR comong back healthy. They need to replace Jagr with a better two way player or atleast someone that can provide a better physical presence. Besides he will be taking PP minutes away from JVR.
i think homer is letting Svboda use the Flyers as leverage to get more from another team.
Jagr can get plenty of minutes and help a young team like the Isles. DET has a ton of dough under the cap.

OR
he's signing at a discount and we're just waiting for 'tagging space'
This is true, but there are times when the roster is pretty much healthy. I can see a forward maybe going out there during the draft.

if not, I'd rather him on the 4th than cooter
I'd be hesitant. It better be a significant move. 900k 50 point players are welcomed on most teams, and a team only moving down a few spots and picking up a 50 point player makes out pretty well.
Cant see how rewarding a rookie who put up 47 points on the 4th line.
I don't mind Jagr on the roster, but he's taking a spot from one of the young guys in the top 9. If they're really going with the youth movement up front, then he shouldn't be brought back to piggyback with Giroux. We have ten guys who should be in the top nine, so once again, someone will be stuck on the fourth line. Maybe they're looking at moving a young forward for a young defenseman.
Holmgren has a plan about next year's roster, and we don't know what that plan is. His signings must fit that plan to be good ones, so I'll wait to see the final roster to comment on whether or not it was a good idea to re-sign Jagr. Last year, it made a lot of sense, considering that we had a lot of rookies and we were thinking about developping players to have a strong core of forwards for years to come. Jagr sure helped them. So far, our roster is still young, so I guess that's the mentality behind it. It will be good for Giroux, he's becoming a star player, and having someone who has already experienced it before close to him should help him to deal with the pressure etc. But, we'll see what the roster will look like, it might be something else.
That's not good. If this is happening, we want to know as soon as we know what the cap number will be.
There was a Czech interview where he said that he expect the decision to be made on the 1st of July because:
a) he and the Flyers will see what is the new cap
b) he will first let the Flyers make their upgrades and then he'll decide based upon where he'd fit in such upgraded roster (= "first get Parise/Suter and then we will see")
I'm fine either way. He can teach the youngsters a thing or two if he is here (like say how to condition) and if he isn't here I'd be excited to see a young guy in his role.
I think he already did that this year. they learned what he had to show em already. and he looked slow as hell at the end of the year. time to let somebody else take the first line hole on wing. he was awesome this year for us but time to say goodbye.
