I dunno. But Whitney could score on the chances spoon fed by Crosby. That cross ice pass from Sid to Whitney on the PP did the trick every time.

Equally soft, but Whitney's huge frame and worse defense made me want to throttle him in a way I've never felt with Martin.

This made me smile and has brightened my morning. Thank you Sir.

Martin gets my vote.

Maybe Martin's broken arm from 2010 was worse than we thought. He's never been a good shooter and was never physical but this past season it was embarrassing. Maybe it's the cause for avoiding any and all contact this much.

If Whitney was Paul Martin's size, he would have got much more of a pass. Because he was 6'4 225 and played a soft game, people hated him.

I think when he said, "playing a physical game isn't my style," he really rubbed people in Pittsburgh the wrong way.

Even when you take his lack of physicality out of it, though, he still went incredibly long stretches where he was just flat out lazy in his own end. Not in terms of hitting, in terms of hustling and getting his ass to where it needed to be positionally. That's what always irked me about him. His lack of physicality was never a big issue for me when he played engaged and focused and didn't take shortcuts. I think when any defenseman plays like that, he will get roasted, regardless of his size.

I have to go with Whitney. Martin takes hits, Whitney avoided at all costs.

he was tremendous in game 5. It made him all the more frustrating when he played poorly because you just knew how good he could be.

I have to take Whitney just because he has a big body. He is an embarrassment to life.

I don't think so at all. Larry Murphy was well liked and he was never first to a puck. He was just smart enough to strip it after allowing another player to get there first.

The thing with Whits was that he would just give up on plays. I actually don't have a problem with soft defenseman if they're smart about it like Murph, Zubov or prime Kaberle.

Another thing with Whitney is that he always seemed nervous to me. I guess you can say that about a lot of those WB MT kids.

martin sucks at taking a hit. whitney was bad too, i'll give him the nod cause he was 6'4 and afraid of guys that were 5'10
