I won Stanley Cup 2009/2010.

Again I finished first in the West with 106 points, President Trophy won by Buffalo (fourth straight ).

In the first round I eliminated Dallas 4-3, I have been down 3-1 but managed to come back. In WCSF it was Detroit and we beat them easily 4-1. In conference finals Blues gave us good resist, but still felt short, 4-2 for AVS.

And in the SCF Buffalo was almost swept, with 4-1 in the series Colorado Avalanche won it's 3rd Stanley Cup.

Championship lineup :

Kovalchuk - Malkin - Grabner
Bartschi - Backstrom - Hejduk
Sieber (2007 draft pick) - Sgarbossa - Landeskog

Pitkanen - Doughty
Staal - Johnson (Jack)
Guerra (2007 draft pick) - Siemens

Varlamov (91.6%, 8 SO)
Pickard (87.4%)

Regular season stats

Nicklas Backstrom won Conn Smythe, absolutely destroying playoffs. Also, Michael Grabner had great PO's with 19 goals in 23 games.

PO stats

Individual awards :

Conn Smythe - Nicklas Backstrom
Jack Adams - Barry Trotz
NHL All-star game MVP - Ilya Kovalchuk
NHL All star rookie team - Duncan Siemens

I wouldn't mind getting into this game as when I play NHL 12 i'm mostly a Be a GM player. I tried it out first a few months ago but I felt so overwhelmed I didn't know where to start.

Is there a guide up on this for beginners for videos on youtube that could help a guy like me out?

I drafted what I'm positive is a Heatley regen and he has won 3 presidents cups and finally won a memorial cup on his 3rd try, placing last then losing in the final before finally winning it, so suffice it to say I think he is a payoff beast. He won the WHL playoff MVP every year putting up 39 points then 49 points the 2 consecutive years following. Now at 20 I'm letting him be my 1st line LW and seeing how he does as I finally let a lot of the old guard go in the offseason and am more or less just running off my own draft picks now in net and on offense at least, the drafts have been thin on D.

And I made the last 2 Stanley cup finals, and lost, under the salary floor pretty sure I'm under 40mil right now because most of my players are young and still on low paying contracts. Also still can't get any major free agents to sign with me even after 2 finals appearances. I did lose I guess but made it there with very young rosters and most of my players still developing against a powerhouse LA team both times.

ehmtheblueline.com go into downloads and rosters!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been really busy with class so I haven't really played much. I got the Lidstrom regen in the 2nd round and he's likely going to be a beast.

Hardy Irwin (Bobby Orr) - Jack Johnson
Joseph Thuresson (Nicklas Lidstrom) - Sergei Golubev (22 year old signed for 9 more years at about a $1.5 million cap hit, very good defensive d-man)

My bottom pairing will be 3-4 guys playing on a lower line. My d is going to be VERY good in a few years. I've got a ton of really good Americans drafted. I have the Modano regen still in college and another center that I trained on LW and RW so he's all purpose.

Valteri Nilsson (Peter Forsberg) is a rookie on my 2nd line, putting up more than PPG . I've got an American RW on my top line, he's almost all greens and yellows except influence.

Future is bright for the Habs. Especially since I have Carey Price's 21 year old successor with 4 years experience in Hamilton putting up amazing numbers already. Next year he will begin his time as back-up.

Just won my first Stanley Cup with the Blues in my fifth year. I let my veteran core of forwards (Tkachuk, Weight, Guerin) walk in the offseason and traded Khabibulin and Brewer for cap reasons after signing Lecavalier, Gonchar and Luongo. Khabibulin was dealt for O'Sullivan and a 4th, and Brewer for Callahan. Both worked out A LOT better than I had expected.

Cup-winning Roster:
Patrick Kane (1/1, 07) - Vincent Lecavalier - Lee Stempniak
Ville Leino - TJ Oshie - Patrick O'Sullivan
Mattias Weinhandl - Patrik Berglund - Ryan Callahan
Jay McClement - Dan Hinote - Ray Whitney

Scott Hannan - Sergei Gonchar
Jay McKee - Erik Johnson
Ryan McDonagh (1/14, 07) - Dennis Wideman

Roberto Luongo
Marek Schwarz

Everyone in my top-9 finished with around 70 points which provided an incredibly balanced attack. Scott Hannan had an incredible year (9.07 AvR) while Gonchar and McKee were solid as well. Johnson and Wideman struggled, though McDonagh was a nice surprise as a rookie (finished third in Calder voting; Berglund won).

Current Roster:
Patrick Kane - Vincent Lecavalier - Steven Stamkos (1/1, 08)
Mattias Weinhandl - Patrik Berglund - Patrick O'Sullivan
Ville Leino - TJ Oshie - Ryan Callahan
Jay McClement - Marcel Goc - Nicklas Lasu (6/159, 09)

Scott Hannan - Erik Johnson
Jay McKee - Sergei Gonchar
Ryan McDonagh - Tom Poti

Roberto Luongo
Marek Schwarz

Lecavalier (12-12-24 in 24 GP), although he probably shouldn't have. Patrik Elias and Scott Gomez had 35 points each for New Jersey in a losing effort. If it had to go to someone on the winning team, Luongo would have been more deserving IMO.

My Bridgeport Soundtigers finally lost a game after 40 straight wins. I am now 42-2 so far.

I won my second SC, won President Trophy as well. Nicklas Backstrom won his 2nd Conn Smythe in a row.

Now, I have big trouble as I need to re-sign some RFA's...Don't know how my team is going to look like in next season. One thing is sure, I won't rush my prospects...

How much reputation has in common with becoming GM of some national team ? My reputation is star and when I apply for some job in NT, they always chose some guy whose reputation is very good and mostly coaches in WHL/OHL/QMJHL. Speaking for Canada and USA...

I won two SC's and President Trophy...if that is not enough to get job with some NT...

In my game Frans Nielsen retired because he can't support his family from playing pro hockey.

I really do try to play the game "straight up", meaning I don't take advantage of the fact that I'm the human as best as I can. My last several games, I've really worked hard on defense - to varying success. My crowning achievement to date might have been what I accomplished last night: not surrendering a goal in an entire playoff series (OHL, not NHL, sorry).

I was the #1 seed Niagara IceDogs vs. #6 seed Oshawa Generals in the second round of the J. Ross Robertson Cup playoffs. And John Gibson was my tender (who was nearly lost midway through the playoffs because the game has junior players get signed and taken away immediately! Luckily, the Ducks immediately returned him to me) and he did a fine job of not surrendering a single goal in the series.

In fact, given the two shutouts in the first two games of the first series, it wasn't until midway through the second period of game 1 of the third round that I surrendered a goal at home in the entire playoffs.

Epilogue: I went the distance against the 67's before beating them in 7 and advanced to the Finals against Kitchener - Niagara won that in six games. And then I went 4-0 in the Memorial Cup and captured it against Seattle (WHL) against a goaltender named "Duncan Brown Bears"
