After being mostly disappointed with the Bluesfest lineup, I'm thinking of a trip for all three days. Can't commit to the full festival quite yet due to work.

Will I still be able to grab a full festival pass in say, late June? Or is that down to mostly single day tickets.
I don't want to give you a false sense of security but I'm almost positive that you'll be able to grab a three day pass right up until the festival. They have never sold out before so I doubt they will this year and they don't limit the number of weekend passes they sell unlike other festivals.

So you should be in fine in June as long as it's the same as previous years.

Last year, Tragically Hip fans moved out at the end of the group's performance, and Flaming Lips fans closed in on the stage while Death Cab For Cutie was playing on the other main stage.

It's even less of a problem when the bands you want to see play on 'secondary' stages. Band #1 moves in. Band plays set. Band moves out. Band #2 moves in... Etc.

And MJG is right. Osheaga doesn't attract much of the "look at me" crowd. It's a modern-day Woodstock with emphasis on the music, not gimmicks. No fashion statements, no peace and love, no political messages... Just 3 days of freakingly good artists for a very reasonable price.
Maybe I was a little harsh.

I like a few other bands at Osheaga, but I'm not a live show kind of guy. Not because I don't appreciate the music, but I have trouble in large crowds, so I rarely make it out to a concert. But I for one don't want to miss Sigur Ros and I don't necessarily want to see them in that festival context.

Been looking at the heav mtl lineups again. Day 2 isn't that bad, it's just not my cup of tea. Day 1 looks like **** though.

Not sure if I wanna dish out the money for Day 2 to see Overkill, Voivod and Dethklok and stick around for the other stuff. I've already seen them before.

Osheaga...forget it. I've only heard of about 10 of those bands, and they're all scattered over 3 days.

I actually am looking forward to the Saturday lineup. Snoop, Brand New, Portugal The Man, The Arkells, The Aggrolites, Jesus and Mary Chain and Plants and Animals all look good to me. Sunday is a sick lineup also.

I only got the two day pass, saving money on the festival and on an extra night at the hotel.

The plan was to go to bluesfest instead for the whole two weeks but the lineup is horrible, full of dubstep and electronic music, which I can't stand. Osheaga is a way better option for me.

I definitely have a mancrush on Chuck Ragan. Hot Water Music is by far my favorite band, ever.

I suppose I come across as antiquated but I think the best ensemble to hear in this city is l'Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.

I've been meaning to go to an OSM show for years. Their Mozart Requiem show tends to sell out pretty quickly. Hopefully next year.

Bon Iver will be at the Ottawa Folk Festival on September 10th.

Single day tickets are $42.

If anyone was lucky enough to see live at the Metropolis back in December, you know he puts on quite an amazing show.

Heavy MTL sucks this year.
Sherbrooke's Festival du Lac des Nations sucks.

Looks like Laval and Quebec City took everything interesting.

The lineup for FolkFest is quite amazing. I got my 5 day passport for 99$. Matthew Good, Dan Mangan, Great Lake Swimmers, John K Samsom, etc. This is gonna be the best festival in Ottawa this year. No doubt.

This is the first time I've ever heard of the Ottawa Folk Festival. I expect Bon Iver will put the festival on the map. He may have been persuaded to play this show thanks to his lady-friend (musician and Ottawa-born Kathleen Edwards).

Hey fellow metal fans,

MetalSucks.com organizes a fest that comes to Montreal on May 23rd.

The headline will be Ulcerate from New Zealand. It'll be their first time in North America and it's probably gonna kick some major ass.

More info here: http://www.metalsucks.net/2012/01/31...american-tour/

For those of you who don't know Ulcerate I encourage you to give it a try:

Edit: Just realized it was a few weeks a go. FML!

yeah, she's playing also. This festival has been going for many years in Ottawa but this is by far the best lineup I've seen.
